Welcome Jverwey!
Now that you've joined Wikipedia, there are 48,215,031 users!
Hello, Jverwey. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions! I'm Crtew, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge.
Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
  Introduction to Wikipedia
  The five pillars of Wikipedia
  Editing tutorial
  How to edit a page
  Simplified Manual of Style
  The basics of Wikicode
  How to develop an article
  How to create an article
  Help pages
  What Wikipedia is not
Some common sense Do's and Don'ts:
  Do be bold
  Do assume good faith
  Do be civil
  Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
  Don't spam
  Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
  Don't vandalize
  Don't get blocked
If you need further help, you can:
  Ask a question
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page, and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles

  Perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.

The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!
To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your userpage.

Sincerely, Crtew (talk) 13:51, 23 August 2012 (UTC)   (Leave me a message)[reply]

Jverwey, you can make links by putting two brackets before and after the target term. Look at how I made "Basketball" a link on your user page. You can do this for your other interests as well. Learn more at "Help:Link" (put that into search) to gain more control over this function! Good luck, Crtew (talk) 17:33, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Signing your messages

[edit]

Jverwey, I noticed you recently wrote on my talk page but didn't sign it. Typically, Wikipedians do not write out their usernames but write down four tildes, and that automatically signs their username, creates a time stamp and info on how to reach them (talk page link). Four tildes do a lot of work. You can find the tilde key on your keyboard below the Esc key. Crtew (talk) 21:55, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

its going good, ive just been really swamped with studying for a practical and 2 tests itll be complete tho Jverwey (talk) 03:08, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

How's your progress on the infobox and notability statement? Crtew (talk) 05:14, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is something more interesting about your journalist then how many other have died before him. He was actively opposing Al-Shabaab. You can get the details from the joint release that is sourced the IFEX web site. I added quote marks to the statement in your notability statement. You need to be more careful and paraphrase information in your own words. No more than three words in a row from a source. DO NOT use the same sentence structure and then "thesaurusize" the wording. It's best to synthesize an idea from two or more sources and process the ideas in your own mind. I'll revisit your page and look at your writing and your sources to make sure you're getting this. On the other hand, you're getting good facts. There are contradictions, however, like his age can be anywhere from 43 to 49 depending on the source.Crtew (talk) 17:23, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Segott, Peer review

[edit]

Your information box is well done! I also really like your introduction on your journalist. You might be able to find a little more information on Abukar Hassan Mohamoud for certain sections like context and impact, but if you can’t it is ok. I think you are doing very well! --Segott (talk) 01:20, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Decorning, Peer review

[edit]

You have good information and is well thought out. Everything seems to be organized. The only criticism I owuld have would be to talk more bout his career and how he played a role and his impact. Very good. Decorning peer review

Wikipedia Education Program: student survey!

[edit]

Hi! I work with the Wikipedia Education Program, and I'm hoping to get your feedback about your experience this semester! In order to help other students like you enjoy editing while contributing positively to Wikipedia, it would be very helpful to hear from real program students about their experience, so we know what to change. The survey takes no more than 10 minutes, and I'd really appreciate your response!

Thanks so much! JMathewson (WMF) (talk) 01:52, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
