Here are some tips to help you get started:

Good luck!

Thanks for creating the Wikipedia page on me. As a Wikipedia user, I'm pleased that the old self-created version was deleted. As a Wikipedia subject, I'm honored to be considered notable enough for a somebody-else-created writeup! Best, --Jacobw 08:36, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Collaboration of the Week

[edit]

League of Nations is the new Collaboration of the Week. Please join in helping make it a feature article.

MTR

[edit]

Thanks for your additional photos in the MTR article! I almost mistaken them for copyrighted Gakei photos, as their photos are tagged in a similiar way. If you can, please continue to help out in one way or another so that it can become featured article status. :)

Hi,

I responded to your comments on the Gandhi image at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Mahatma Gandhi. (Basically I changed the image). Please take a look. thanks. --ashwatha 16:50, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Re : Siu Ho Wan

[edit]

Thanks for the compliment. :) This photo was taken on my Airport Express trip back to HK International Airport. I didn't even realize the significance of the photo until the Disneyland Resort Line section was added later on.

Anyway, are you interested in working on the KCR and its lines' articles as well? I have a whole lot of photos from the same HK trip I made, and I thought a lot of supposedly-to-add information has been omitted from these articles. - Cheers, Mailer Diablo 11:19, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Re: KCR/KCRC split

[edit]

(copied from Talk:East Rail (KCRC))

I personally believe that KCR should be split along the lines of MTR and MTR Corporation, i.e., for the rail line articles, namely East Rail (KCRC), West Rail (KCRC) and the LRT article to talk about the history of the rail lines, and for the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation article to talk about the company itself. What do you think? My message is also on the individual talk pages.

Also, this page should probably be renamed KCR East Rail because this is how KCRC brands it. JuntungWu 15:53, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I agree with the split, but I guess the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation would have less to be written, than the MTR Corporation Limited. The KCRC does not have so many office and apartment buildings, shopping malls, property management and those sort of things like the MTRCL do, tho we might expect it will have much more along the West Rail and the Ma On Shan Rail in the next few years. (the only one I can name is the Citylink Plaza at Sha Tin Station.)
The current title looks fine for me. And KCR East Rail already redirects to East Rail (KCRC) — Instantnood 20:45, Feb 6 2005 (UTC)

Next time when you're working on an article you may consider listing it on Hong Kong Collaboration of the Week. :-) — Instantnood 20:51, Feb 6 2005 (UTC)

My application for adminship / Amir's accusations

I prefer not to edit the voting page, nor to add any comments for obvious reasons, but I guess the pages User:Amir1 was referring to are following:

I hope that helps. Refdoc 18:01, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Re: KCR/KCRC split

[edit]

Hello Juntung I've started moving and rewriting the materials from KCRC to KCR. As for the rolling stocks you mentioned on Mail diablo's discussion page, the rolling stocks of West Rail, Ma On Shan Rail and the new ones on East Rail are roughly the same. — Instantnood 12:21, Feb 13 2005, UTC

[edit]

Salve, Juntung!
Thanks for your support on the FAC candidacy of my Cincinnati, Lebanon and Northern Railroad article. I'm glad to see there's some understanding about the red-links. There are thousands upon thousands of roads out there and, as Vaoverland said, Wikipedians just haven't gotten to them yet. A couple of the places I mention, e.g. Brecon, Ohio, I do need to create stubs for and I thank you for your contributions. Again, thanks for your suppport. Ave! Hey Juntung, thank you for voting for me in my adminship nomination. I very much appreciate your support. Best, SlimVirgin 02:36, Mar 24, 2005 (UTC)

I appreciate it, too. I would add that IHO, primary schools are by definition non-notable, and we want this to be an encyclopedia. My dad was a good man, and my house is a fairly nice building, but neither are of encyclopedic interest, and neither is my primary school. You understand this. Good for you. Rlquall 04:56, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)

As of March 25, 2005, there are an additional (6) articles listed for deletion under the POV notion that schools are non-notable (even though this is invalid reasoning as per the Wikipedia deletion policy). Please be aware that the following schools are actively being discussed and voted upon:

In response to this cyclical ordeal, a Schoolwatch programme has been initiated in order to indentify school-related articles which may need improvement and to help foster and encourage continued organic growth. Your comments are welcome and I thank you again for your time. --GRider\talk

[edit]

You may already know this, but for the links on your user page to other Wikipedias, you can use interwiki links: for example, [[:ja:User:Jungtung|Japanese]] gives Japanese. The preceding colon must be present on article/user pages, though apparently not on talk pages. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know! — Knowledge Seeker 06:34, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thank You!

Images and media for deletion

[edit]
  • I am contacting people who previously helped to vote to delete a generally objectionable photograph by a vote of 88 to 21, and who might be unaware that immediately after that image was voted to be deleted someone posted another which was very similar in content. My objections to this, and the previous image that was voted to be deleted might be based upon reasons far different from any that you have, but I do object to it, and consider the posting of such images to be acts of asinine stupidity, which burdens the project and its major educational aims in ways that they should not be burdened, and can be extremely detrimental to the acceptance and growth of WIkipedia's use and influence. Thus far those who I believe to be in the extreme minority of Wikipedians who would like to include these images, many who have been channeled to the voting page from the article with which it is associated have dominated the voting, 23 to 12 (as of the time that I composed this message). I would like to be somewhat instrumental in shedding a bit more light upon the issue, and if possible, helping to turn the tide against its inclusion. It might also be necessary to begin making an effort to establish an explicit Wikipedia policy against explicite photographic depictions of humans engaged in erotic, auto-erotic, or quasi-erotic activities. To my limited knowledge such images have not been accepted as appropriate anywhere else within this project, and frankly I can agree with those who are casually labeled prudes for opposing their inclusion, that they should not be. Vitally important information that might be unwelcome by some is one thing that should never be deleted, but un-needed images that can eventually prevent or impede many thousands or millions of people from gaining access to the great mass of truly important information that Wikipedia provides is quite another matter. There are vitally important distinctions to be made. Whatever your reasons, or final decisions upon the matter, I am appealing for more input on the voting that is occurring at Wikipedia:Images_and_media_for_deletion. ~ Achilles 03:55, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I moved your vote

[edit]

On Images and media for deletion, I moved a Keep vote of yours from the Image:Charlotterossnypdblue.jpg section to the Image:MoneyJews.jpg section. Since you referred to antisemitism in your vote, I assumed you intended to vote on the latter subject and not the former, and I moved your vote so it would apply accordingly. If I've erred, my apologies. Thanks! Demi T/C 17:15, 2005 Apr 7 (UTC)

Hi.

Thank you for your comments on Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/United Kingdom corporation tax. I have boosted the section on "Avoidance" and should be grateful if you would have another look at it. I was slightly puzzled by your comments on what avoidance is - I wonder whether you're mistaking it for tax evasion? Whether that's the case or not, I thought it would be useful to add a brief explanation of what avoidance, which I have now done. Kind regards, jguk 17:41, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)

My RFA

[edit]

Thank you for your comments on my RFA. Although the voting period just ended with a 14-8-2 vote, I will admit once and for all that I used it more as an evaluation of myself. Being promoted would have been a plus. I was more interested in who voted, when they voted, who would change their votes and when, and the comments I would receive. Hopefully I will correct the main weakness that was raised by those who voted oppose -- that I was too eager to put articles on VFD. Also, I will try to interact more with those Wikipedians who did not vote at all.

As for next month, I don't know if I will nominate myself again. I might not think about it until somebody else puts me up there on RFA at a later date. Eventually, I see myself as an admin, especially as the number of articles and users continues to grow. Thanks again and good luck at improving this vast archive of free knowledge. Please stop to adding German names for Polish cities. Did You read the vote result?

Could you please stop adding that template to all pages unrelated to the city of Gdańsk/Danzig/Dantzik? It's silly, it's like adding this notice to articles on Japanese cities: after all Japan was allied to Germany during WWII and the city was German... Halibutt 14:50, May 16, 2005 (UTC)
