OMG
You fixed it!! Thank you so much. Except you haven't made any changes to the script in over a month. This just keeps getting stranger. My watchlist is intact, though, so I can't complain. Cheers! Makeemlighter (talk) 23:02, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- LOL. * Juju throws hands up in air * half frustration, half joy. Strangely, Maedin closed a couple nominations over the past couple weeks and never reported any issues. I'll keep my fingers crossed ;-) Jujutacular talk 00:03, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
You were right, by the way, about New Featured Content needing to be manually edited to remove the promoted sets. See this. It got all the way up to twenty before I noticed. Oops! I'm actually surprised nobody adding other featured content noticed. FYI: script has been working fine since the watchlist issue miraculously resolved itself. Cheers, Makeemlighter (talk) 01:59, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- Oops indeed ;-) this made me think of a way that the script might be able to get around that issue. Although it may take a while for me to get around to it, very busy IRL lately (who knew starting a career takes so much work!). Good to hear about the watchlist issue. Oh, and regarding your edit summary, PSH! you're welcome on my talk page anytime! Jujutacular talk 08:07, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
Frog Legs Rag
Think the discussion on this is nearing completion. Now that things have actually turned productive, it's improved a lot. I'll throw it over to you once a couple people sign off - don't think there's any point doing your improved version until I do all I can in the MIDI. Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:50, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. Let me know when you're ready. Jujutacular talk 17:08, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
Online Ambassador Program
Please take a look at this project page and see if you can be a mentor to one of the many Areas of Study. If you can, please put your name in the "Online Mentor" area of the Area of Study of your choice and then contact the students you will be working with. As the Coordinating Online Ambassador for this project, please let me know if I can be of assistance. Take Care...Neutralhomer • Talk • 04:35, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
See what happens when you run this through conversion. Tony's apparently reasonably happy with it. We may need to make some teaks once the conversion's done, though. Adam Cuerden (talk) 13:36, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- Bad news: for some reason that MIDI file cannot be opened by the editor I use to sequence it, did you use a different method? Jujutacular talk 15:30, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- Not that I'm aware. Hold on, I'll tweak the settings. Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:29, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

- By the way, are we ever going to hear more guitar music from you? Adam Cuerden (talk) 14:39, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- Here's the rag: File:Frog Legs Rag 4.ogg. I did a little bit more humanization changes myself. Slight rhythm tweaks and dynamics. Hopefully all for the better. Give it a listen, let me know if you think we should make any more changes (I don't mind). As for the guitar, unfortunately I'm a bit out of practice. Very busy in real life lately. Not going to sell my guitar any time soon though :-) Jujutacular talk 20:38, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm. Is it just me, or is the RH a bit too quiet compared to the left? May be because it's using the "Bright Acoustic Piano". Other than that, it sounds very good. Adam Cuerden (talk) 20:49, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- I gave it another listen, and I'm not sure I hear that, but I've probably listened to it fifty times :) I don't think whatever piano setting that you use would have any effect on the output of this file. As far as I know, my software ([1]) just takes the note placement and velocity information, then outputs the sound based on the settings I input. Jujutacular talk 01:11, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I have a bit of a cold, and know way too well how it sounds on my MIDI player to easily judge your version. Let's throw it to the people, and we can tweak if they complain. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 07:22, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Back on Wiki
I'm just now noticing you got back to me. I have been busy and not on here much but I will be alot this weekend as I am preparing my first article for my sandbox. I just went back and read that review again. I was doing it mostly for class. I suppose I could go back to the article and maybe add some info about those new regs at the end. We'll see if I get to it. Hey, just a question. How do you upload pics, if I want to put one on my user page for instance? Is that where people usually put them? Have a good weekend! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vince.b.green (talk • contribs) 21:30, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- Pictures can be uploaded by clicking "Upload file" from the menu on the left under "Toolbox". There is also an entire wiki dedicated to hosting images for Wikipedia and other projects, called the "Commons": [2], which most people here use. Either way works. Let me know if you have any trouble with it.
- One other thing: you can 'sign' your posts on talk pages by adding four tildes (~~~~) to the end of it, right after your comment. The tilde key is usually located right above the tab key on most keyboards, using the shift key. You can use the show preview button to ensure that your signature is showing up. I disagree. It appears to have been posted to disparage the person named in the article. You should have let it go as a speedy. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 20:13, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
- I really don't see that at all: it says he coined the term. It doesn't name anyone that is 'blaming'. As a precaution, I have removed the name from the article. Jujutacular talk 20:20, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Marking articles students are working on
Howdy, Online Ambassador!
This is a quick message to all the ambassadors about marking and tracking which articles students are working on. For the classes working with the ambassador program, please look over any articles being worked on by students (in particular, any ones you are mentoring, but others who don't have mentors as well) and do these things:
- Add {{WAP assignment | term = Spring 2011 }} to the articles' talk pages. (The other parameters of the {{WAP assignment}} template are helpful, so please add them as well, but the term = Spring 2011 one is most important.)
- If the article is related to United States public policy, make sure the article the WikiProject banner is on the talk page: {{WikiProject United States Public Policy}}
- Add Category:Article Feedback Pilot (a hidden category) to the article itself. The second phase of the Article Feedback Tool project has started, and this time we're trying to include all of the articles students are working on. Please test out the Article Feedback Tool, as well. The new version just deployed, so any bug reports or feedback will be appreciated by the tech team working on it.
And of course, don't forget to check in on the students, give them constructive feedback, praise them for positive contributions, award them {{The WikiPen}} if they are doing excellent work, and so on. And if you haven't done so, make sure any students you are mentoring are listed on your mentor profile.
Thanks! --Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 18:12, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Another oops
Hi. I accidentally did this: User talk:Benjamint555. I typo-ed 555 for 444 three times; I guess I only caught it the first two times. Will you delete that page for me? I wasn't sure if CSD U2 applied, and even if it does, I figured it's better to have you marvel at my mistakes than some random admin. Thanks. Makeemlighter (talk) 23:21, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

DYK for WTC 9/11
On 19 March 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article WTC 9/11, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Steve Reich's composition, WTC 9/11, premieres today with a performance by the Kronos Quartet at Duke University? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Page Deleted
Hello Jujutacular,
I would like to know further information as to why the biography page for Artist/Filmmaker "Dustin Lynn" was recently deleted by you?
Thank you,
Abby —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.113.212.8 (talk) 22:44, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Abby. The page was proposed for deletion by JzG (talk · contribs) with the rationale: "Unsourced biography, no indication of objectively provable significance". Take a moment to read a bit about Wikipedia's notability guidelines: Wikipedia:Notability. If you believe that Lynn satisfies that criteria, and reliable sources can be found to verify the article, I will restore it and send it to "Articles for deletion", where other editors will review it. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions. Regards, Jujutacular talk 22:53, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
Hi Jujutacular,
I believe it is a mistake -- JzG (talk · contribs) no longer exists and Lynn has plenty of third party sources, a few of which I believe were attached to that article. I actually noticed the page was gone because I was looking for this link: http://www.nowness.com/day/2011/2/24/1340/corto-moltedo-x-dustin-lynn I'm a follower of his fashion work. Anyway it would be great if you could restore it!
Thanks,
Abby
- Done. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dustin Lynn for discussion. To present your argument, try to identify as many reliable sources that significantly discuss Lynn, and demonstrate how you believe he passes WP:BIO. JzG no longer has user page, but they are still actively editing. Regards, Jujutacular talk 10:26, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
Hi. This nomination has been sitting around for a while. I'm wondering if you might help find a resolution for it. By numbers, it can be closed as Delisted, but I'm not sure if anyone has seen the comments by Adam and Chick at the bottom. I'm not keen on contacting all the voters, so I thought I'd ask the you, the nominator, for your thoughts. Thanks. Makeemlighter (talk) 04:30, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- Two other quick things. The delist nomination above it (Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/delist/File:Purple Swamphen - Pukeko02.jpg) is ready to be closed. I didn't actually vote, but I'm involved enough that I'd prefer not to close it. Also, I've contacted the voters at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Upper Belvedere LCD.jpg to express a preference, so it won't sit around for too much longer. As always, my eternal gratitude! Makeemlighter (talk) 04:38, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- I actually just contacted Maedin about closing the Starry Night nom. I thought about reducing the size, but given those comments by Adam and Chick at the bottom, I'm not sure it would really change things. I also thought of posting on the article's talk page about reverting to the earlier version, given the cutoff arguments, but my heart wouldn't really be in it honestly.
- I'll take a look at the other delist nom. Jujutacular talk 04:40, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- I saw your note on Maedin's talk page on my watchlist right after I posted here. I'm pretty much ambivalent about the Starry Night at this point. I'm still not crazy about huge files, but since people (at FPC and elsewhere) don't seem to have a problem with it, I'm fine with it. Thanks for closing the Pukeko. Makeemlighter (talk) 05:04, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

Say, lad, I don't suppose your Spanish is better than mine? I took it in an American high school... in the north of the country, where we never met any Spaniards or Hispanics (It was a Polish and German area, mostly). Reason I ask is, well, see the top FSC. I mention my next plan there. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:32, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- I have passable Spanish. I've never tried translating from eswiki, not sure how they deal with Spain vs Mexico, South America, etc. (I'm mostly familiar with the Mexican dialect). I'll take a shot at helping out with the translation. Jujutacular talk 16:44, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks! The article isn't very long at all, really, so if you're reasonably fluent, it shouldn't take too long. It's at es:A La Nanita Nana, and the English one is en:A la nanita nana. The Spanish one is a little over-focused on a modern recording, but, eh, use your judgement. = Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:53, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hrm, just noticed the sound file. I'm not in a position to listen to it right now, but if they are any corrections to the translation of the lyrics needed, go for it. Jujutacular talk 17:51, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- Just had a listen, seems like they took a bit of liberty with it. Jujutacular talk 00:03, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- Aye, it's not my favourite performance, but it's pretty good. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:51, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Definitely a new editor. I felt it neccessary to tag the Dustin Lynn article for copyvio. Compare the lede with the IMDB mini-bio Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 06:01, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

hangoned CSD -> Prod
Hi Jujutacular, with this edit you got me thinking. The article was originally tagged for speedy deletion as an IAR'er. It was then deleted per A1 in 2010. It got recreated and after a few edits got slapped with a hangon (without there being a speedy) by the creator. The hangon tag got removed by someone, as it made no sense. shortly thereafter it was tagged for speedy deletion again, and the hangon tag has been put back. I rejected the speedy deletion as it really doesn't fit the criteria, and swapped it out as a PROD (restoring earlier deleted versions to keep the history complete). You went ahead and rejected the PROD on the base of the earlier hangon, which would be fully within policy. Though this is a rather complicated example, I am wondering, are all articles with hangon tags automatically ineligable for PROD? It's a good question, and I'm not quite sure yet. I'm wondering what you think about it. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 19:35, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
- Yea, I actually noticed after I deprodded that the user was contesting the speedy deletion, not the proposed deletion. Then I pretty much had the train of thought you just described, whether an article that is 'hangoned' is automatically ineligible for PROD. I would venture to say yes, although I don't know of any policy that specifically says so. When in doubt I would say just send to AFD. Jujutacular talk 20:11, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
- Looking over how the AfD is turning out, there was really no use for the AfD. Thinking off it again, I think it's just process for process's sake to send this off to AfD, and I don't think in future cases I will reject a PROD based on an earlier hangon from a rejected speedy notice. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 18:30, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- I really don't see it that way. To me, it is treating editors (mostly newcomers) with good faith that they object to the deletion of an article, and not just for process. Jujutacular talk 01:35, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

FYI I'm investigating this recently promoted featured picture as a possible copyvio because it claims that it's from the CIA Factbook while the source of the image claims that it's from the Handbook of International Economic Statistics. Graphical Representation of the line to the British Throne
The decision seems to be to merge. But nobody seems to be charged with the merger. And, I must comment that at a time when the main article is the 1st or 2nd longest article in Wikipedia, nothing should be added to it, it should be a list and nothing more - a loss which I hope can be reversed, but I suppose it won't be. I make these comments with respect and in the spirit of Wikipedia. Alan Davidson (talk) 01:31, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- I closed as 'redirect', noting that content can be merged from the article's history (which is retained). I did this so it is not a real 'loss', as the page history is still fully accessible to all editors. Discussion about what should be merged (if anything) can take place at Talk:Line of succession to the British throne. Jujutacular talk 01:57, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- But what of my point "the main article is the 1st or 2nd longest article in Wikipedia, nothing should be added to it"? That is, it is undesirable to make it larger. Alan Davidson (talk) 03:44, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- That is why I say "if anything". Consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Graphical representation of succession to the British throne determined that all of the content related to the subject should be presented at Line of succession to the British throne, without a separate 'graphical' list. Discussion about whether or not anything should be merged can take place at Talk:Line of succession to the British throne. Jujutacular talk 03:58, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- You make my point - there is no advance consensus on what to add to the main article. There are already those who target the main article for being too large. I, who wanted the graphical representation, disagree with increasing the size of the largest article in Wikipedia. If you check the history of that page, you will see that a great deal of surplus material (at towards the end of the page) was removed, to maintain it as a bare list (although a few pictures remain). Those who suggested merger will be thwarted. The result is deletion, and here was only one vote for outright deletion. The discussion should occur first. But as I said it is "a loss" and is irretrievable. There have been no steps to place the graphics on the site; and the page is already too large. Again, I make these comments with respect and in the spirit of Wikipedia. Alan Davidson (talk) 23:11, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- There is no advance consensus on what to merge because AFD is not the place for that. It is most certainly not irretrievable, here is a direct link to the article before redirection. Even if it were deleted, that action could have been undone. Consensus can change. If you have any further issues with this closure please take it to deletion review. Jujutacular talk 23:35, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- I suppose the sole issue remains - the concern of the length. But I do not intend taking it further. Alan Davidson (talk) 03:45, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
