User talk:Judith Mackay
Welcome new user
[edit]Hello, User:Judith Mackay , I see you've opened an account and begun to make edits to the encyclopaedia. You are most welcome and thank you for the edits you have made. I'm Lumos3, one of the numerous editors here. I voluntarily work as a welcomer to newcomers. I'm posting below a standard welcome box with lots of useful links. I hope you get pleasure from editing and making Wikipedia an even better resource for the community.
If you are the Judith Mackay who is the subject of the article Judith Mackay you should still supply reliable sources for your edits as Wikipedia has no way of knowing your true identity. See WP:CONFLICT and WP:RELIABLESOURCES.
Wikipedia encourages new members to jump in and make corrections and contributions to articles. I myself found the Be bold guideline particularly encouraging when I was getting started. I also found the Wikipedia:Cheatsheet a useful quick reference for editing text.
If you have any questions about the project don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page here :-User_talk:Lumos3.
Happy editing,
Lumos3 (talk) 13:15, 2 May 2012 (UTC) , Wikipedia Welcoming Committee.

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~)
at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.
To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put
{{My sandbox}}
on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.Sincerely, Lumos3 (talk) 13:15, 2 May 2012 (UTC) (Leave me a message)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Judith Mackay. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Judith Mackay, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Citobun (talk) 11:10, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
