Hello Siva1979 and thankyou for your welcome. I am Judy Dyble and although I haven't written the article, I have corrected any inaccuracies and spelling mistakes where necessary. I hope this is ok.(Jude12 (talk) 19:43, 29 June 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Comments on article Judy Dyble

[edit]

Hello, Jude12, and welcome to Wikipedia. A few months ago, you managed to create a misnamed page (Talk:Judy Dyble/Comments); and a few days ago, you added more to it. Comments on articles are welcome, but they should be on the main talk page of the article (accessed by clicking the "discussion" tab at the top of the article), rather than on a sub-page. Accordingly, I have moved your comments to Talk:Judy Dyble and requested deletion of Talk:Judy Dyble/Comments as per the guidelines given at WP:CSD#G8. Thank you. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:18, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I find all these sections very confusing, apologies for posting in the wrong place, I was kind of floundering, as I was trying to find out when an article stopped being stub class, and I thought I had put it in the right place.. ah well. Live and learn :-) Jude12 (talk) 20:08, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, fine. No trouble. A lot of it is practise and experience. If you're busy you might not get either; but I've been unemployed for nearly 5 months now, so have used some of the free time to edit Wikipedia, and have improved those skills a lot (don't think that they're skills that a potential employer would want though). I've also been going through my record collection and playing as many as I can, most haven't been played for 10 years or more. Several make me all nostalgic, hence, I look up articles on the various recording artists... in the course of which I came to article Judy Dyble in about September this year. I thought "I can add more here", and did so - such as beginning the discography (which others have added to, and has possibly got a bit too complex, what with various overseas versions). In so doing I came across various oddities, which experience with other pages (and examination of a fair few help pages, guidelines, policy docs etc) told me weren't quite as they should be - so decided to clean up a bit.
Regarding Talk:Judy Dyble/Comments mentioned above, before doing anything about it I sought the advice of others, which you can see at User talk:Redrose64#Judy Dyble. I completed this action on 10 November; not long afterward, another user (User:Airproofing) raised the article from Stub-class to Start-class at 17:40 on 13 November 2009, which you can see at Talk:Judy Dyble. So all should now be well.
When I edit a page, I always tick the "Watch this page" option, so that I can see quickly which pages that I'm interested in have been edited recently. This user-talk page is therefore on my watchlist, so if you need help, pop a question on here and I'll try to answer it. If you precede your message with {{helpme}} (note the double curly brackets), then somebody on helpdesk duty will spot it; almost certainly more quickly that I will, and they will also know the answers to more complex questions that I don't know about.
I do ramble on rather, don't I? Sorry. That's all for now, happy editing --Redrose64 (talk) 21:23, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Redrose64 and thankyou for all the advice.... As I am the person that this section is about, you can always ask me if something posted here is true or not...Jude12 (talk) 13:23, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Have a look at WP:AUTOBIO. Basically, if you really are Judy Dyble (and I don't doubt it), you have the right to remove anything from that article that is libellous or just plain untrue. However, you need to be wary of adding information about yourself - WP:NEUTRALity is what we're aiming for; see also WP:COI.
If you have information which is not in the article, but you believe that it should be, pop a suggestion on Talk:Judy Dyble, stating where the information can be found - whether this be a book, magazine article or web page does not matter, so long as it's both publically available and WP:RELIABLE - others (perhaps me, perhaps somebody who spots the suggestion firat) can then find the information for themselves, WP:VERIFY it, and so add a passage to the article, with an appropriate reference. For example, there's the Record Collector interview from September 2007 - there's probably plenty of ideas in there. I have that magazine, and I really should get around to reading it!
Sorry about all the WP:ALPHABETSOUP. --Redrose64 (talk) 18:18, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's very useful information and thankyou..there are now a number of online interviews which I have done especially within the last few months with the release of my new album so I will add the links and you can have the fun(!) of looking through them. As I said before I will correct anything that is not true and try and keep it all up to date.

Talking with Strangers

[edit]

Well done spotting the spelling mistakes! I must admit that I didn't check for those earlier today, when I reformatted the track listing according to guidelines given at Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums. However, I did spot the lowercase "m" in "Alistair murphy", but left it alone, because it seemed to be a deliberate choice by Tommytomato (see this edit) - some artists (e. e. cummings, annA rydeR for example) have unusual choice of upper and lower case for their names.

BTW, if the text in the track listing is a copyright violation, you have the right to remove whatever you feel to be unjustified - see WP:COPYVIO. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:20, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I should have spotted this one too - now it definitely looks like Tommytomato did it deliberately. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:25, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tommytomato is in fact my manager and I am always correcting his spelling (Murphy has a capital M) (and toning down his occasional exuberant excesses!)We both keep an eye on these pages so there are no copyright violations at the moment... just spotted another name spelt wrong so I have corrected it...

I've added a small "Reception" section. It's not much; I'm never much good at neutral comments, particularly where artistic matters are concerned. Still, the source is now in the article, so somebody else might expand it. --Redrose64 (talk) 23:19, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dishcloths?

[edit]

Hi Judy, the problem is that our source says socks, and we have no source other than yourself for dishcloths. Is this written down anywhere so we can change the source? Cheers. Rodhullandemu 22:43, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rodhullandemu... I have been looking back through interviews that I have done to find where I have said about my knitting.. Really I couldn't ever knit socks, my knitting was altogether too dreadful for that. Dishcloths and scarves that looked like Eiffel Towers was what I knitted.. you might be interested to see this bit of info from Richard Thompson's website confirmiation from Richard that I did knit on stage, but not actually confirming what I knitted!!

I will keep looking for some confirmation... Jude12 (talk) 17:05, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

News release

[edit]

Help! I don't know what to do with the banner at the top of the Judy Dyble page that says the page needs to be neutral. Everything in the page is true. I don't believe in having puffery. And I have replaced the removed pronunciation of my surname. It gets mispronounced on radio programmes and I don't see that it counts as advertising. Jude12 (talk) 18:13, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why the {{News release}} banner was added earlier this month, but it was added with this edit, so I'll leave a note on the talk page of the user concerned. The same edit removed the pronounciation; I've added a pseudo-reference for that. Not having a printed source, I've gone for a ref to the only audio recording that I know of: see here - hopefully SJBN always got it right. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:23, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou.. Yes Simon N does know how to pronounce my name, I've known him for 45 years ;-) Hope you are well..Jude12 (talk) 21:17, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Trader Horne

[edit]

Hi RedRose. I would like to set up a wikipedia page for Trader Horne (my cult psych-folk duo with Jackie McAuley) as there isn't one at the moment. I am not sure how to go about doing so though.. Can you help? Jude12 (talk) 09:53, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jude, Yes, there isn't one (the article Trader Horne is on a baseball player, but it does have a link back to Judy Dyble). Unfortunately if you were to try and create one somebody else will likely delete it again, either on the grounds that you have a conflict of interest or because they believe that it fails WP:BAND (a huge number of articles on bands get deleted quite quickly). The approved method is to raise a request at Wikipedia:Articles for creation; I recommend that the suggested name be Trader Horne (band). --Redrose64 (talk) 17:32, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Right ok.. I will have a think and create the beginnings of an article and see what happens to it...Thanks :-)Jude12 (talk) 21:50, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I note that Cook Of The House (talk · contribs) has created Trader Horne (band). I suggest that you add it to your watchlist, so that you can keep an eye on it easily. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:43, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi RedRose, Yes I have just noticed! I will go through it and check for accuracy, although most of it seems to have been taken from my website! I'll correct anything that isn't right, there are one or two things that are supposition on the part of the author..Jude12 (talk) 21:20, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, if they've been taking info from your website, it will certainly need checking for copyright violations. --Redrose64 (talk) 12:20, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'll make alterations to it. All the info on my website was written by me and is my copyright. I wrote it in 2004 so various things have come to light since then and when I get around to it I will alter the website accordingly. I will look for verification in interviews/reviews/blurb etc..Jude12 (talk) 17:59, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Red Rose.. I have made a few alterations but I don't know how to add the references to Pete Sears' and Jackie's biographies. They are here http://www.petesears.com/bio5.pdf

http://homepage.eircom.net/~jmcauley/Biography.htm

http://www.allmusic.com/artist/jackie-mcauley-p19237/biography

Not knowing exactly which information came from which source, it might be best if you made a start on this. The two pages normally recommended are WP:Referencing for beginners and WP:Citing sources. If you wish to try using a citation template in conjunction with the <ref>...</ref> tags, I would suggest {{cite web}}, i.e. something like <ref>{{cite web |url=http://homepage.eircom.net/~jmcauley/Biography.htm |title=Jackie McAuley Biography |first=John |last=Taylor }}</ref> --Redrose64 (talk) 21:25, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'll have a go, but it looks like a page of gloop to me.. Would it be easier if I told you which bits refer to which?Jude12 (talk) 15:10, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Help RedRose! I have linked the mention (in the Giles Giles and Fripp) page of 'Trader Horne' to the Trader Horne Band page, but it just goes to the baseball player's page of the same name. I don't know how to disambiguate it.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jude12 (talkcontribs) 19:04, 29 February 2012‎

Hi Jude! You do it like this - the real name of the article goes before the vertical bar, and the text to show in the page goes after. So, [[Trader Horne (band)|Trader Horne]] shows as Trader Horne, and if you click it it'll go to the proper place. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:06, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou! Jude12 (talk) 21:28, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Image deleted

[edit]

Hi.. the image of Trader Horne has been removed from the Trader Horne page because permissions have not been given. The picture is mine and I can't remember/don't know how to give permission.. but I do give the permission Jude12 (talk) 19:21, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So I see (here's the log entry). The image was located at Commons, so my suggestion would be to go to Commons:Undeletion requests and follow the instructions there. Another relevant page is Commons:OTRS. When sending messages, make sure you give the actual filename as used on Commons, i.e. File:Trader Horne.jpg. I'm afraid I can't offer much other advice. --Redrose64 (talk) 13:48, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

May 2016

[edit]

Hello Redrose64, I have added two updates, one for a major reunion concert and one for my autobiography and tried to add reference links in the external links bit, but I'm unsure whether I have done it right or not or indeed referenced them in the right place! If you get a moment could you look at them and correct them if necessary ? Thank you :-) Jude12 (talk) 19:53, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I formatted the first link by adding the page title, I don't think that there's anything wrong with independent reviews. However, the second one has two problems - first, it's the front page of a website, so in a few weeks (or even days) it might change completely; second, it's primarily a sales page, which goes against WP:ELNO#EL5, so I removed it. --Redrose64 (talk) 00:24, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
