Speedy deletion of Butserfest

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Butserfest requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Thingg 16:52, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have removed the speedy deletion request as being outside the scope of criteria A7 (see WP:CSD for more information on speedy deletion criteria). However, as it currently stands, the article on Butserfest does fail to demonstrate notability and could still be subject to deletion from an AFD or other other deletion procedure. I recommend that you read the relevant guideline at WP:N and add evidence of reliable third party source coverage of the festival to bring the article up to snuff. Please let me know if you have any questions. -Chunky Rice (talk) 17:31, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to bother you but could you point out things that could strengthen my article. I am new to all this and I never really relised how complicated it was. Thanks jtoppy

  • Sure. The first and probably most important thing is sourcing. You need to add sources such as newspaper reports, or coverage from third party reliable sources. Third party, meaning that it needs to be from somebody not associated with the festival. Reliable, meaning that it needs to come from some organization or person that has some sort of fact checking or editorial standard. Blogs and other self-published sources are not reliable. Getting these in there will show both that the subject is notable as well as verifying the information that you're putting in there. Also, please sign your talk page comments by typing four tildes ~~~~. Again, if you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask. -Chunky Rice (talk) 17:55, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also, if you want to start a new section on a talk page, consider using the new section tab at the top of the page. It'll make things easier for you. -Chunky Rice (talk) 17:58, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

I note that the images that you have uploaded don't have any copyright or license information. You're going to need to include that if you want to avoid getting them deleted. An image on Wikipedia either needs to be free or fall under our fair use policy for non-free content (see WP:NFCC. Take a look at other images, like [1] for an example of a logo with a fair use rationale and licensing information. -Chunky Rice (talk) 18:39, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Butserfest 2008 image

[edit]

A couple of years ago, you posted an image of the band Vallenbrosa at the 2008 Butserfest, but your image replaced another one with the same name(File:DSC00360.jpg). I'm going to revive that image under a new name. I hope you don't mind. ----DanTD (talk) 20:49, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
