Victor J Kennedy (born June 27, 1972 in Bradford) is an British writer and art director renowned for his work in the confessional memoir genre.

Early life

Kennedy was brought up Methodist in the south of Bradford,West Yorkshire. At 16 he was moved to Kendal in Cumbria due to his father's job in Insurance. As described in his memoir Hypomanic, Kennedy's hypomania began during the time he attended Cumbria College of Art and Design and started experimenting with drugs for the first time. While an undergraduate at University of Westminster, where he continued to live a hedonistic work\life balance. At the same time he held the position of student representative for three years running, whilst keeping top marks. A lifestyle of chemicals and pressure which contributed to his downfall. During his fight back, Kennedy also received the 1996 Apple Design Project Award in California.

Hypomanic

Kennedy is best known for publishing his memoir, Hypomanic, at the age of 35. The book chronicles his fight back after a nervous breakdown he experienced as an undergraduate and how he eventually recovered and returned to university to finish the degree that he started.
