Jenkins

[edit]

Please do not replace the disputed content without support or your editing priviidges could be restricted. There is also a discussion at the WP:BLPN please do not replace the disputed content without consensus support there. Off2riorob (talk) 20:58, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

JzG's justification for deleting the material on John Major Jenkins' use and advocacy of hallucinogens is manifest nonsense. For example, how can my sources on Jenkins' drug use be "far from great" when they're exclusively Jenkins' own writings, some of them less than one year old, and most of them promoted by Jenkins on his own web site? And how much more "rigorously" could I have referenced them, than by citing title, publisher, publication date, ISBN, and page?
Furthermore, JzG's characterization of that information as "junk" is scarcely professional. Will JzG be disciplined for this abuse of his editing privileges?
Frankly, I don't deserve to be lectured to like some naughty school boy by people who pull this sort of stunt.Jschiapas (talk) 02:35, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I see you have added it again without any consensus support, I asked you not to do that, please consider the complaints regarding your addition and do not add it again without support. Off2riorob (talk) 13:12, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

this edit is inappropriate due to the fact that you have demonstrated disgruntlement with the mentioned user over the sentence/issue. It amounts to "making a point" in the article space - which is discouraged. I advise you wait for feedback on the OTRS tickets that exist for this article before taking the discussion further. --Errant Tmorton166(Talk) 14:11, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop pushing on this, can you see anyone supporting your addition, no . Also please take this as a warning, do not add comments to articles mentioning wikipedia editors as you did in this edit, such additions are against policy and could result in your editing privileges being restricted, thanks. Off2riorob (talk) 14:13, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I do see someone else supporting my addition: JzG, who directed me to include Jenkins' denial. If you have a problem with that, take it up with him. I hereby withdraw from participation in Wikipedia.Jschiapas (talk) 14:17, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just to point out Guy said: Please ensure that any material on this subject is sourced rigorously and stated in terms of studied neutrality, with due weight given to the subject's own denial of the assertion that he promotes hallucinogen use. which is not what you did. The problem is that citing his book as evidence of Hallucinogen advocacy/use is problematic for a number of reasons - not least the danger of synthesis/OR. As discussed on the BLP/Noticeboard what is really needed is a) better sources (and, yes, in this case the authors works are not a good source) and b) neutral wording. --Errant Tmorton166(Talk) 14:24, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
