Welcome messages

[edit]

I suggest that it's a good idea to keep one of your welcome messages on your talk page, as otherwise editors who think you are a completely new editor may well put new ones up there. Ghmyrtle (talk) 15:42, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Editing and discussion

[edit]

An editor previously posted on this talk a welcome note with a list of links on how wikipedia works and its various guidelines and policies. I suggets you read them, they're extremely helpful, even to much more experienced users. Wikipedia works through WP:consensus, with changes to the articles being discussed. I reverted your map change and gave a reason. A common (although not castiron) rule of thumb in relation to dealing with reverts is the WP:Bold, revert, discuss cycle. Edit summaries such as "cool story bro" are not in any way decent arguments, and will probably be seen as an unwillingness to edit, which may quickly lead to you being unable to edit, something not good for anyone. May I suggest you discuss your desire to change the maps, here or elsewhere? It's also worth looking at the note posted on this page just before you deleted it about personal information. It's probably not something you want to write here. Once on wikipedia, it will always be on wikipedia, however an admin can remove it from public view. Your user page

[edit]

Further to JamesBWatson's message, it is not wise to show your email address on Wikipedia, because spambots crawl the site looking for them, and you could find yourself getting a lot of unwanted spam. As you have enabled email, anyone who wants to email you can do it that way. You might like to have a look at Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 17:57, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Further to that, I suggest you would be well advised to remove your real name and date of birth also. -- Alarics (talk) 11:03, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the advice. Josh Robinson 22:16, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

Vandalism

[edit]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Democratic Republic of the Congo. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. Scarborough - half a million - 2011 census

[edit]

In this edit [1] you claimed that the 2011 census revealed that the area around Scarborough had a population of half a million according to the 2011 census. I have been unable to find data from the 2011 census anywhere so where did you get yours from???? Eopsid (talk) 19:54, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:Johannesburg Montage.png

[edit]

I thought it necessary to bring under your attention that the montage you created of Johannesburg (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:Johannesburg_Montage.png) contains a picture of the Cape Town Stadium - which, I'm sure you will appreciate, is not in Johannesburg. Would you please fix the problem? Perhaps replacing it with a picture of Soccer City (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Soccer_City) would suffice? Thank you. [edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Beboscreenshot2011may.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 16:39, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Namibian Stock Exchange, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Barloworld (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi your collage of pictures in the article for Johannesburg includes a photo of the cape town stadium. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.188.112.148 (talk) 04:03, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re:your edits to Methodism

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to the Methodism article. I see you created a section on Northern Ireland with this edit. However, in your next edit you remove this addition and add new information further down the article about the church in the Caribbean.

Was this a simple mix up (which can happen if you're editing two versions concurrently)? There weren't any obvious problems with the former edit. -- Peter Talk page 21:47, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It was a mistake, it said edit collision or something, so yes it must of been a mix up. Jrobin08 (talk) 21:51, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Scarborough Seawall1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 06:55, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Johannesburg Montage.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Johannesburg Montage.png, which you've attributed to Source and licensing is required for each image in the montage.. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 01:31, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ray Phiri, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Fusion (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 09:14, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
