Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, JoydipBarmankd, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Sabuj Palli High school, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, ask me on my talk page. You can also type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 20:13, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Proper way to insert images in infoboxes

[edit]

Hello @JoydipBarmankd. I am @Archer1234. I noticed your recent edit to Sabuj Palli High school where you added an image to the infobox. I want to let you know that the way you added the image was not done according to Wikipedia's Manual of Style (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE).

When adding an image to an infobox, thumbnails should NOT be used. Simply supplying the file name will work. For example, to use File:Image PlaceHolder.png, you can simply use |image=Image PlaceHolder.png. Captions should be specified with the |caption= parameter. Every infobox is different and the documentation for the infobox in question should be consulted for the proper parameters to match the image and caption.
To fix

Do not use the full image syntax:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead, just supply the name of the image. So, in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg

and optionally:

|caption=Some image caption.

Hopefully you will find this information useful for your future editing. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask. — Archer1234 (t·c) 23:48, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, JoydipBarmankd. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 10:00, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Siliguri College of Commerce, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Archer1234 (t·c) 13:46, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Talk:Sabuj Palli High school, you may be blocked from editing. Archer1234 (t·c) 20:57, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Dinhata High School. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Thank you. Archer1234 (t·c) 21:00, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello JoydipBarmankd! Your additions to Sabuj Palli High school have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. 2A01:4C8:A0:75C2:8D8E:11F:B561:C37B (talk) 10:09, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop.

[edit]

Please stop adding copyrighted content from the school's website to Sabuj Palli High school. Wikipedia cannot host copyrighted material, for legal reasons. Thank you. 2A01:4C8:A0:75C2:8D8E:11F:B561:C37B (talk) 12:25, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Use of multiple accounts

[edit]

Information icon Hello, JoydipBarmankd, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia, such as Parthakankibarman (talk · contribs). Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who misuse multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please disclose these connections. Thank you. 2A01:4C8:A0:75C2:8D8E:11F:B561:C37B (talk) 13:49, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked for sockpuppetry

[edit]
Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/JoydipBarmankd. It has been blocked from editing for a period of 3 days to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.

Warning on persistent unacceptable editing practices

[edit]

You are extremely lucky that RoySmith blocked you from editing when he did, because he blocked you for only three days, whereas many administrators would have blocked you indefinitely. In order to avoid being blocked indefinitely after this block is over, make sure that you edit in conformance with what you have been told in various messages. In particular, take note of the following.

  • A Wikipedia article must be written from a neutral point of view. Don't post promotional material, or material which seeks to encourage the reader to hold a particular opinion concerning what you are writing about.
  • It is almost never suitable to copy content from another web site to Wikipedia, for more than one reason, the most important being copyright. When you post anything to Wikipedia you release it for anyone in the world to reuse it, either unchanged or modified in any way whatever, subject to attribution to Wikipedia. It is very rare that the owner of a web site licenses content for such very free reuse, and in those few occasions when they do so, we require proof of the fact. We don't assume that content is freely licensed on the unsubstantiated say so of just anyone who comes along and creates a Wikipedia account.
  • Before you do any more editing state clearly what connection you have to any organisation you have written about or are going to write about.
  • If your editing is part of paid work then say so, and specify who is paying you.
  • Don't try to avoid complying with Wikipedia policies by using other accounts. JBW (talk) 22:39, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Dinhata High School, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Urban. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:01, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Puzzling edit

[edit]

I can only assume that your editing at Talk:Sabuj Palli High school was some kind of mistake, as I can't conceive of any reason why you might do that intentionally. However, it is also difficult to imagine how it might be done by mistake. Please be careful to avoid doing similar things again. JBW (talk) 11:02, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@JBW Believe it or not, that's exactly what someone who doesn't understand technology might do on accident. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 17:00, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@I dream of horses: It's exactly the kind of thing that a brand new editor with no experience of editing Wikipedia at all might do by accident, but, although JoydipBarmankd is a fairly new editor, their history of editing, including their history of editing the article Sabuj Palli High school, made it seem unlikely they could have not known that they were editing a talk page. However, on reflection, I have made mistakes not very different from that, so I suppose it isn't really strange after all. JBW (talk) 20:50, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@JBW Yes I have no experience with Wikipedia article telk page editing. JoydipBarmankd (talk) 09:02, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, in case you haven't realised, the problem was that you posted into a talk page the kind of thing which belongs in an article, not in the article's talk page. An article's talk page is for messages and discussions about the article and editing it. It's so long since I was a new editor that I tend to forget how confusing things can be to someone fairly new. However, now that I've thought about it, I can remember making the opposite mistake: posting comments in an article which should have been in its talk page. It's quite possible that at that time I may not have even known that talk pages existed. Also pinging I dream of horses just in case she may be interested. Block

[edit]
Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently editing contrary to Wikipedia's guideline on conflict of interest, and possibly also the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use relating to paid editing. You have received several messages about this, but have not made any meaningful response to any of them. You may be unblocked once you have given a satisfactory answer to those messages.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  JBW (talk) 17:23, 15 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple unblock requests

[edit]

You have made five unblock requests when you should have only one that is awaiting review. Admins are volunteers and there is no deadline for your request to be reviewed. Your request may take several days or even weeks to be evaluated. In the meantime, please stop making more requests; more requests will not speed up the process, nor will it affect the result. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 20:51, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
