Information icon Hello, I'm SummerPhD. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Miranda Cosgrove without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! List of Singer-Songwriters

Hi, Joseph. In answer to your question, the Singer-Songwriter list includes two sections. The first is "Traditional singer-songwriters," and the second, "Others who both write songs and sing" (an awful title). The idea behind the split is that the term S/S traditionally referred to a solo artist who wrote and sang songs and accompanied herself on a guitar or piano. But what to do with artists such as Freddy Mercury or Paul McCartney who wrote and sang much of their own material but usually as a member of a band? Thus the second category was born.

So yesterday I removed a fair number of artists from the second grouping who were already included in the first, which is something I do periodically to eliminate the redundancies in an already overly-long list. Of course, much of this is arbitrary, but so too is the S/S category. For example, does John Lydon/Johnny Rotten consider himself a singer-songwriter? Probably not, but he could be added to the non-traditional list, especially considering that his Wikipedia article describes him as a singer-songwriter. Allreet (talk) 17:03, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Zachary Quinto, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Chair. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Drake Bell + albums citing

Hi. Just wanted to let you know, since I sense you're not yet quite familiar with Wiki verifiability/citation guidelines, everything in articles needs to be verifiable. Inline citations (from reliable sources) need to be placed next to any phrase, statement, term, that has been or may be challenged, and that includes genres. :) --Lapad (talk) 01:30, 7 December 2014 (UTC)

I get that part, Lapad, but I didn't know how to by using a source that was already used within the article.

No problem. None of us know until we learn it. This article is helpful with that: WP:REFBEGIN (see "Same reference used more than once" section).
Also, I see you're trying to cite but using sources not considered reliable. Please see WP:ALBUMS/SOURCES for a list of recommended sources and sources to avoid. --Lapad (talk) 01:43, 7 December 2014 (UTC)

Joseph Prasad, Like I advised before here, and in edit summaries, please familiarize with linked articles and general Wiki guidelines before reverting. Do not engage in edit wars. Discuss or inquire in talk page of article(s), and you can ask me for help or clarification on my talk page if you'd like. Lapad (talk) 02:34, 7 December 2014 (UTC)

Lapad, sorry, I did not see the "do not use genre sidebar".

It's fine, just a matter of reading over it. --Lapad (talk) 02:36, 7 December 2014 (UTC)

December 2014

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Miley Cyrus. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. NeilN talk to me 23:14, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at Talk:Miley Cyrus, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Geraldo Perez (talk) 20:31, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

Ariana Grande

Dear Joseph Prasad, it appears that you have once again mixed up the content for the page of Ariana Grande. The List of awards and nominations received by Ariana Grande belongs with its own file, please stop removing it. I've repeatedly changed the same thing multiple times. Please do not make me ask you a third time, or I will have to block you. Thank you, JoyUnity.

Block me? Are you an admin? Probably not. You can't block me unless you're an admin. -- Joseph Prasad (talk) 03:09, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

Ariana Grande

Dear Joseph Prasad, I noticed that for the page of Ariana Grande you removed the Achievements file from her page and added the content to her See Also file without explaining why. I have restored the removed content. The List of awards and nominations received by Ariana Grande page should remain in the Achievements file and not the See Also file In the future. Thank You.
