Hi, I am one of the founders of the hobbyDB project (https://www.hobbyDB.com). hobbyDB is attempting to catalogue every collectible ever made, we estimate it will have 500 million entries when getting closer to being finished (we are 360,000 pages now). We further believe that hobbyDB is a natural extension to Wikipedia - take Hot Wheels, Wikipedia has one page on them, we already have more than 45,000 to cover all of their different models, variations, catalogs, other ancillary products, people worked at the brand etc etc.

Matchbox, and everything else
[edit]Hi Christian,
I found your note on my talk page. This is a major undertaking here. But go for it!! If I can help, I will. I wrote about 90% of the Wikipedia article on Matchbox and I don't think it would look bad at your site.
As for the models themselves, you should try to contact Charlie Mack in CT, USA, for info on MB models. He has written books and books on them. He can help you catalog them well.
I see you list one 1:43 white metal/resin manufacturer (Minimarque). Others, such as Brooklin, Motor City USA or Conquest, are not listed. Will you attempt to get lists of all of these, too? If so, again, this site will become huge... there are not enough good sources. A good book for 1:43 scale is written by Jerry Rettig, but it has far too many errors. Nevertheless, it shows how much material you have to cover in this area.
Your list of brands is also missing great companies like Neo, though you have their competitors, e.g. Minichamps and Spark. You have quite a lot of territory to cover. Power to you, my friend! Jtnet (talk) 21:21, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
- I somewhat never saw our reply, my apologies! Good points, Charlie Mack now joined the ToyPedia advisory board and we now have Neo and a lot of the White Metal companies (there are now 200,000 entries. Need to check on the book from Jerry Rettig. Please get in touch via christian@hobbydb.com. Joschik (talk) 22:32, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
