Baseball Lists

[edit]

Hi. I've noticed that you do a lot of editing on the baseball stat lists. I am going to bring somethng up at WP:BASEBALL and wanted to do you the courtesy of giving you a heads up. I feel as though the "real time" updates to the stat lists are not helpful to the lists, as I have found that more often than not the edits are incomplete after each night's games and do not reconcile to the dates listed on the top. Additionally, I find that making an edit for each change in a list isn't necessary as the sheer amount of edits makes it difficult to go back and look at older versions of the article when necessary. I am going to propose achange whereby the lists are dated as such: "The stats are updated as of the start of play on August 1, 2009"

Other editors may have different opinions, which is why I'm notifying you, but I feel as though this issue takes away from the quality of the articles and confuses WP with stat aggregators like baseball-reference, ESPN and MLB.com. Please don't view this as a negative reaction to your activity on WP. For such a young editor, I think you've made great contributions to the project. Thanks. - Masonpatriot (talk) 03:23, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I completely understand your enjoyment. My primary concern is the qualiy of the articles and that they are accurate. "Real-time" updating reduces that and is not really the purpose of WP. We do not post score update (and things like that) for that reason (and because other sites do it much bettr than us. Thanks. - Masonpatriot (talk) 04:03, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back!

Rollbacker permission

[edit]

Done Thank you for coming to my talk page. I have considered both your edits and your editing time here and note that you have over 2000 edits (mainly in baseball) and have been a contributor for over 5 months. You are young but show good edits especially with regards recent reversions, and I am prepared to provide you with rollbacker permission providing you read carefully this section (and indeed relevant links on that page) - and indeed I have enabled the tool for your account as of today. I trust you will be careful in your use of the tool and that you understand that it can be removed from you for inappropriate use. If in doubt do not rollback but rather ask for assistance. ERA leaders article

[edit]

I left a message on the talk page, but I noticed that you're pretty much the main editor for List of Major League Baseball leaders in ERA. I was wondering what you used as the cutoff point for inclusion. It's not listed in the article, and it probably should be. -Dewelar (talk) 00:48, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I forgot to include that in the title, but the article is supposed to be the list of pitchers with a career earned run average of or less than 3.00. I put that in the introduction though. Jonathansuh (talk) 00:54, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but what's the cutoff as far as minimum number of innings? -Dewelar (talk) 01:09, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know, I'm going with then MLB List. Jonathansuh (talk) 20:32, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MLB free agents

[edit]

I recently came across the page Plácido Polanco and saw that you changed him to a free agent. I looked into it and he is still listed as a Tigers player at both MLB.com and ESPN.com. You also did the same with Gary Sheffield, Iván Rodríguez, Bengie Molina, and many other pages. I would just like to remind you that you must verify your information (see WP:V) and cite your sources (see WP:CITE) when editing pages. If you ignore future warnings and continue to not verify your information, there could be subsequent action taken against you. Thank you, --LAX 15:32, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yes I'm sure you didn't. I am just letting you know for the future. And thank you for telling me where you saw that. I didn't see that. I was looking at the players profile pages for both sites. --LAX 20:37, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WikiProject Space member! A discussion has been started regarding the future of WikiProject Space here; any comments you might have would be welcome! There are mainly two competing ideas:

  1. Centralize all the Space-related WikiProjects, such as Astronomy and Spaceflight, and merge them into WikiProject Space, or
  2. Separate the Astronomy and Spaceflight "sides" of WikiProject, and remove WikiProject Space.

If you can think of other options, that's great too. Your contribution to the discussion would be much appreciated. Thanks! :)

The article List of Major League Baseball leaders in walks allowed has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Redundant due to List of top 100 Major League Baseball leaders in bases on balls allowed

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:29, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
