Please read this and this. "Uploaded to http://www.tameside.gov.uk/pressrelease/blackknight without copyrigth" is meaningless. In the absence of a copyright notice, we must assume all rights reserved. Best thing to do is to wait until this year's fair and shoot your own high resolution version. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:50, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. I'll wait until I get consent from the website administrator. Johnroashton (talk) 12:51, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry not to have seen your comment in this article re his inheritance of Assheton lands. My source (Roskell, p.252) has now been provided. I would be interested to know if you think he's wrong. The facts however do seem to suggest the absence of an heir as Bradpole was certainly disposed of by Maurice de la River in 1457, Russell's grandson. On closer inspection of your article Robert de Ashton, you've confused two unrelated Assheton families! I have reverted your edit in the Robert de Ashton article, with an explanatory footnote. (Lobsterthermidor (talk) 22:48, 2 June 2011 (UTC))[reply]
How could they be different families? They both contain a Robert de Ashton (d.1384) who was Justiciar of Ireland, Treasurer of the Exchequer, etc. Johnroashton (talk) 08:49, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sad times

[edit]

The Shithead article had a lot of unsourced variants in there, and I'm afraid your friend's "all the players must sing 'na na na...fish-plane'" variant looks pretty WP:MADEUP from here. By all means bring it back if it genuinely has any wider cultural significance than your local cafes, but I'm sure you can imagine what a typical card game article would end up looking like if it welcomed every jokey house-rules variant. --McGeddon (talk) 16:12, 14 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Ashton of Middleton

[edit]

You might like Richard Assheton of Middleton, or like to rationalize the name.Unoquha (talk) 23:12, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I'll have a look when I get the chance. Johnroashton (talk) 23:16, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
