I noticed no one had provide you with any welcoming meesage yet, but you already seem to know your way around OK.
Regarding Governors Island, dekoning (who often posts anonymously) is among the least pleasant characters I've had to interact with here, and I'm not interested in re-engaging in him in any way. Sure it means the article is decidedly inferior, but tangling with a determined POV warrior with a limited grasp of civility is just too unsettling and is not why I edit Wikipedia. You might try getting additional opinions by posting at Wikipedia:Requests for comment or, if dekoning proves to be incivil or to revert excessively, you could report him at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents or Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/3RR. - You may (or perhaps not) want to look over Talk:New Netherland, another of dekoning's pet articles. Just to give you an sense of what you're dealing with. older ≠ wiser 19:11, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- Whatever you decide to do, I'm behind you. I dislike dekoning intensely because of his attitude; the main reason I don't tangle with him any longer is because he made some very unkind remarks about Virginia in one of his edits, and I don't take kindly to that kind of behavior, especially against my home state.
- Let me know if you'd like me to post something on the "Requests for Comment" page, and I'd be happy to do it. --AlbertHerring 17:50, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- OK, as I said on Talk:Governors Island, I'm willing to whip something up later tonight, once I've had dinner and am feeling a bit more clear-headed (for some reason, I'm feeling awful lethargic today). Given his history, I don't think he'll bite - he constantly reverts my edit to the "New York State's Birthplace" section, for instance, and I don't even remove that, only collapse it into another section for clarity's sake. In which case, I think "RFC" it must be. --AlbertHerring 20:33, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- I've been keeping an eye on the page for the past week or so, and DeKoning is back. He reverted my edit to the section about "New York State's Birthplace", which he insists on keeping a seperate section. I didn't even remove it - I just collapsed it (again) into the history section for clarity's sake. That enough to take it to RFC, do you think? --AlbertHerring 21:24, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
