Promotional user page
[edit]Mr Hammond, thank you for joining Wikipedia and I hope that you're doing well. I found the user page that you've created while patrolling recent changes and I regret to inform you that extensive self-promotional material that may be more aptly suited on a personal website aren't allowed on user pages. Please refer to here and here. I note that user pages that demonstrate such blatant use of Wikipedia as a web host may be deleted on the grounds of reason U5 of the Criteria for Speedy Deletion.
I have no interest in nominating your user page for deletion as I feel that you intend to act in good faith. Instead, I wish to bring this issue to your attention to avoid inconvenience for you in the future. May I ask if you intend to edit your user page to rectify this issue? Thank you. RE: Promotional user page
[edit]Hi Brandon.b2005, thank you so much for the heads up regarding my user page! I absolutely had no intention of self-promotion for the user page (I have joined Wikipedia as a user very recently and had not yet made sense of the purpose behind each page separate from regular articles themselves). I have corrected the mistake and hope that User page is now clearer (though I hope that material is appropriate for a draft article, separate from my user page). Thank you again and I super appreciate the understanding and leniency! (talk) 08:12, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply. Good work with your revised user page. No worries and I had no suspicions that you were intentionally misusing Wikipedia either. Wikipedia's policies and guidelines are extensive and we all learn at some point. I appreciate your cooperation and wish you the best on your time on Wikipedia. - My apologies for contacting you again, but I wanted to let you know that I've notified a conflict of interest for you on the talk page of your draft article as specified here in addition to the notification that you've made on your user page to ensure that the AfC reviewer knows that it's been disclosed in case they don't check your user page. While your draft article is well referenced, please don't be surprised if your article is declined on the grounds of some paragraphs that aren't referenced or that writing autobiographies of yourself is strongly discouraged in general. Please refer to here. My apologies for any inconvenience. Thank you. Brandon.b2005 (talk) 11:19, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
