Articles for deletion
[edit]I see you added the deletion notification to the articles for deletion page. You are supposed to put that on the talk page of the user who created the article. It's not really a problem, just the user didn't get any warning that the article they created could be deleted. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. License tagging for Image:Janus I, Duke of Masovia.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Janus I, Duke of Masovia.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Adelajda Kujawska, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Notability of Jean-Paul Gourges
[edit]A tag has been placed on Jean-Paul Gourges requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Icestorm815 (talk) 20:42, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Image:Countess Sophie Potocka by Kucharsky.jpg
[edit]Your edit to Alexander Kucharsky has drawn my attention to the confusion over this image, which I uploaded to Commons. Is it Countess Sophie Potocka, or Countess Helena Potocka, or even (as Gustav Kobbé claims in The Loves of Great Composers (see here) Countess Delphine Potocka? And who is the artist? I see the uploader of Image:Tonci-Countess Helena Potocka.jpg has got it from Sophie Potocka. How have you arrived at your view, and what is your view, please? Xn4 (talk) 22:12, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Edward Tudor (1536)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Edward Tudor (1536), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}

Hi! Just a small thing; the title of the article should be changed to Brita Karth or Brita Persdotter Karth. In those days, the name Persson was not really a last name, as it is nowadays; it just ment "Pers son", "Son of Per"; and Brita was a woman, so she would have been Persdotter, "Pers daughter". That's not easy to think of, I know! --85.226.235.160 (talk) 12:29, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Lilian Baels.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Online genealogy websites
[edit]Please do not create articles about medieval nobility based on online databases of genealogical data. They are notoriously unreliable. Unless you have solid scholarly sources and can double-check the databases, please do not create new articles. For example, Ivan and Yuri of Lithuania never existed. It is a historical hoax introduced by an unreliable medieval chronicle. Renata (talk) 18:43, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
It sounds strange?
[edit]Hello, Johnello! You cannot move pages just because their titles sound strange to you and you certainly can't change facts just because you think they're strange. The wife of HRH Prince Alexander of Belgium is known as HRH Princess Alexander of Belgium, just like the wife of HRH Prince Michael of Kent is known as HRH Princess Michael of Kent. They use those styles no matter how strange it sounds to you. Surtsicna (talk) 13:09, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- Princess Alexander of Belgium is her "name" now (her style to be precise). Her husband is Prince Alexander of Belgium and she is Princess Alexander of Belgium. She is best known as Princess Alexander of Belgium. A simple Google test will confirm this. Surtsicna (talk) 17:39, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Aleksandra von Engelhardt
[edit]A tag has been placed on Aleksandra von Engelhardt requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
