Also take a good look at meta, with the bot doing the cleanup it's given me lots of time to actually edit stuff :) -- Tawker 08:50, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

You thought I didn't have a bot monitoring that page :) Don't worry, I'm not crazy enough to have my entire watchlist on a page list (mostly because I just thought of that) :) -- Tawker 09:10, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

Czech Republic

Do you live in the Czech Republic? I do. I don't want to get into edit warring. I think it's counterproductive. I'd rather collaborate constructively. Česko has its supporters and detractors here. A lot of people I've talked to don't like it and don't use it. Whatever Juro comes up with, it will have no bearing on English usage and it won't change the fact that Česko ("official" or not) is conspicuous by its absence in all kinds of official contexts. I've never seen it used in written form in a "real world" scenario. So the question is, why use a name that provokes lots of controversy and is avoided by practically everyone, when there's a perfectly good name that nobody objects to? --Smithfarm 15:17, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

You ask "who cares"... well, the Senate cared enough to hold a public hearing, and former President Vaclav Havel said he gets a feeling of "slugs crawling over him" whenever he hears the word "Česko - Czechia". And just based purely on usage (non-tabloid newspapers, publications, official documents, postage stamps, etc.), only the long form gets used, so people who want Wikipedia to mirror actual usage care, too. On the other hand, as I came to understand from reading the Senate hearing transcript, "Czechia" is evidence of the Czech nation's desire to create a unified national identity. The lack of a geographical name that everyone can agree on is a problem to some, at least! --Smithfarm 14:46, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

interiot.js

Thanks for using my "static link" JS. A tiny thing, though - I've just moved the page the script to User:Haza-w/interiot.js, making it lowercase so that it's sorted with my other JS and CSS files. Could you please change the link in your monobook.js, before I get rid of the redirect? Thanks! haz (user talk) 18:25, 5 April 2006

OK what to do?

So what do you think? how we can get BBC's anti-Iranian bias on that page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sasanjan (talkcontribs)

There is no bias, that's my whole point, and even if there were, it's your Original research - meaning we can't put it on the page. Talk to you on Talk:BBC controversies. +Hexagon1 (talk) 10:45, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Hello, I think your map is very interessant but the title seems too general. Please, could you rename it? -- Pixeltoo 11:58, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

Wikics template

Hi Hexagon! Recently, I created a new template to indicate English Wikipedia user who also contribute to the Czech Wikipedia.

Template:User wikics

Feel free to add it to your userboxes if you like it (and if you actually contribute). Happy Easter. Daniel Šebesta (talkcontribs) 17:08, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I couldn't fit it in my userboxes, and I have multi-lingual links at the bottom of my page that do the job. Cheers! +Hexagon1 (talk) 03:29, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

lingvua and ru-1

2 things besides hello and what's up: at vicipaedia, we use v intervocallicaly, and at the start of words, it does not ever get used in the way you redirected lingva latina. And two, we already had the russian-1 user template...the problem is that latine user is usor, so you probably overlooked it. Check out la:Babel Formulae to see all the babel templates we have translated. If you do decide to translate more in the future, and I hope you will, as I see ta language on your user page that we don't have any of at vicipaedia. If your do, however, please change category to categoria and user to usor. Also link to the appropriate language/language category just as in wikipedia. Check out la:Nationes mundi to see all the languages on which we have articles. See you around.--Josh Rocchio 02:36, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Windows / functionality creep

"Microsoft Windows has been the target of functionality creep critisism, far outgrowing the features one would expect from an operating system."

The first part of the sentence is certainly true (whether the criticism is well-founded is another issue), but the second seems POV. There is no rule book that says an operating system must have a particular set of features and no more. Arganoid 14:21, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Ecuadorian Dual Citizenship

Dear Hexagon,

Thanks for your message. I'm glad I got your attention pertaining to my little edit. I'm afraid I have no first hand sources for Ecuador's permission of dual citizenship, other than me personally. Allow me to explain.

My father is Swiss and my mother is Ecuadorian. I was born in Switzerland, and originally I only had Swiss citizenship. As I got older, I began to pester my parents, asking them why I only had a Swiss passport, and not an Ecuadorian one as well. The reason was, that Ecuador did not allow dual citizenship. One day however, the Ecuadorian Ambassador in Berne called us, rather excitedly, to inform us that a recent change in the laws of the land allowed dual citizenship. A month later, at age 10, I recieved my Ecuadorian passport.

If that does not suffice as evidence of Ecuador's allowance of dual citizenship, I shall try to find the specific law in the archives of the Ecuadorian legislative (should one be accesible online).

Hoping to hear from you soon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.186.177.202 (talkcontribs)
