Watchlisting DYK pages
Hi, have you watchlisted Template:Did you know nominations/Environmental damage of Gaza caused by the Israel–Hamas war? I would recommend watchlisting the article and nomination for any nomination you make until the article leaves the main page in case there are questions or in case you want to comment on the chosen hook. In this case the subject is controversial so there will be more comments to follow. I understand you are probably busy IRL, but ideally check every couple of days. Editing hooks
Hi, I saw this edit of yours. Just for future reference, best practice when updating a hook is to leave the original one in place and add a new one, conventionally labeled ALT1, ALT2, etc. Sometimes people refer to the original as "ALT0" even though it's not labeled that. This just makes it easier to keep track of changes during a long discussion. RoySmith (talk) 23:27, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

ANI
There have clearly been several edit-conflicts leading to accidental blanking of comments. DuncanHill (talk) 11:54, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi DuncanHill thanks for the message, my edit was reverted, I got the little 'your edit was reverted' message in my notifications. I know this doesn't happen when a comment is blanked, but if you know another way this works I'm unaware of please let me know :). Thanks again, John Cummings (talk) 11:57, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- Usually it happens when someone gets an edit-conflict and follows the instructions, instead of abandoning the edit and starting again. It can also happen without an edit-conflict notice. It's been a problem on ANI for years. It looks like you did it to another editor's comment too. DuncanHill (talk) 12:00, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- DuncanHill thanks so much for explaining, I don't think I have ever written on ANI in the many years I've been on Wikipedia, sorry if I've accidentally deleted anything :) John Cummings (talk) 12:02, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- That's OK, and well done for keeping away from ANI for so long! DuncanHill (talk) 12:04, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
