I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. Image copyrights

[edit]

Hi! I wanted to reach out to you since you have uploaded several images to the Commons, where you've uploaded them with a Creative Commons share and share alike copyright. The issue, however, is that the images were not issued under these licenses. You can't upload something under a Creative Commons license unless it was explicitly marked as falling under that particular license, otherwise it's assumed that the image was issued under a non-compatible copyright. Basically, uploading them under anything other than the image's original license would be considered a copyright violation and most images aren't released under a compatible license. Unless the image is very clearly marked as falling under a Creative Commons license you shouldn't upload it.

The images will need to be nominated for deletion, unfortunately, since the images appear to be copyrighted to Corey Davis and the College of DuPage and don't look to have been released under a copyright that would allow them to be posted to Wikimedia Commons. It wasn't one of the required modules, but I would like you to look over the Images and Media training module. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:18, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
