Declaration Regarding Wikipedia’s Neutral Point of View Policy

[edit]

Although I am loosely affiliated with Lee Harris Pomeroy Architects as a part time employee, I was not hired to edit this Wikipedia page. I have made every effort to maintain a neutral point of view. The citations are to reliable publications and websites which are unaffiliated with Mr. Pomeroy’s firm. I would like to change the username on my page to “joanratner”. Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Leeharrispomeroy. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Draft:Lee Harris Pomeroy (2), you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:39, 4 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Head shot of Lee Harris Pomeroy.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 20:37, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest, paid editing

[edit]

Hi! I see that you have declared a connection to Lee Harris Pomeroy here. Since you are not that person, you probably shouldn't be using his name here even in a slightly modified form (I have asked for that to be looked into). Higher up this page I left you a long message which included this text:

Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

The best place for that declaration is your user page, User:Leeharrispomeroy. Please note that it is an obligation, not an option. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 00:21, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, Leeharrispomeroy, matches the name of a well-known, living person.

If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You are welcome to continue to edit under this username, but we ask the following:

  1. Please be willing and able to prove your identity to Wikipedia.
  2. Please send an e-mail to info-en@wikimedia.org. Be aware that the volunteer response team that handles e-mail is indeed operated entirely by volunteers, and the reply may not be immediate.

If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Diannaa (talk) 00:24, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that this page is not autobiographical and it does meet the notability guide for biographies. Mr. Pomeroy is the recipient of numerous architecture awards and I have inserted links to many of his projects already included on Wikipedia. How can we go about removing the cautions that appear at the top of the article?

[edit]

Thank you for your comments Justlettersandnumbers. As you can see, I am new to Wikipedia and just learning my way around. In creating the Lee Haris Pomeroy page, I have tried to keep all of the information neutral and provided appropriate citations. Although I have not been hired to edit Mr. Pomeroy's page, I am affiliated with his company. It was my understanding from another editor that, as long as I followed the guidelines of Wikipedia, I could submit the page. Please explain how I can show my status on my page. Leeharrispomeroy (talk) 14:50, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, that's a good question. Off the top of my head, I suggest a short statement, similar to the one you made here, placed on your user page, User:Leeharrispomeroy. It might read something like "Declaration: I'm director of communications at Lee Harris Pomeroy Architects. As a paid employee, I intend to avoid editing on the topic of that company and of the founder, Lee Harris Pomeroy." You could if you wish include your name, but there's no obligation to do so; as a general rule we do not reveal email addresses or other contact details here (the email address you posted before can be hidden if you wish, just ask!). If I've given you wrong advice here I'm sure someone else will soon correct me. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 15:45, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
