Mountain, montane, alpine
Hello, Jo-Jo Eumerus -- I thought you might be interested in a discussion underway at Talk:Mountain ecology#Renaming article. If I understand it correctly, an editor already renamed it before there was any discussion, and another editor suggested leaving it at the new name until a discussion was held and consensus reached. Also look at the sub-section just below this one; they're related. You have quite a bit of knowledge in this area, so you may be able to help. – Corinne (talk) 23:24, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
DYK for Igwisi Hills
On 11 April 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Igwisi Hills, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Igwisi Hills may be the youngest kimberlite volcanoes on Earth? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Igwisi Hills. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Recent changes
- The visual editor can generate wikicode with image options in your language. Examples of image options are "thumb" or "left". You can ask to change to options in your language in Phabricator. [1][2]
- Wiktionaries and Wikisources can now use the visual editor. It is an opt-in beta feature. It still needs development to work better with these projects. [3][4]
- ORES is using new models. Tools that use ORES' predictions can behave strangely. ORES also has a new API. [5]
- The visual editor now supports classical Greek characters. [6]
Problems
- There was a bug when you used keyboard arrows in templates in the visual editor. This has now been fixed. [7]
Changes this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 12 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 13 April. It will be on all wikis from 14 April (calendar).
- The wikipedia.org portal will get many small bug fixes and improvements. Most will be for the search box and suggested results that were added in March. [8]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 12 April at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the next meeting with the Architecture committee. The topics this week are improving transclusion of templates for Parsoid and balanced templates. The meeting will be on 13 April at 21:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Wikimedia has a new backup data center in Dallas. Because of planned work on this, you will be able to read but not edit the wikis for a short period of time on both 19 April and 21 April. This will start at 14:00 UTC and last for 15 to 30 minutes. [9]

Your signature
Just a question... Since your enwiki userpage is transcluded from meta, why do you need to have your username link to meta instead of here? You might end up with users inadvertently writing you there, which I'm guessing is what happened here. E.g. enwiki-related stuff should probably stay on enwiki. Additionally some users redirected to another project might become logged out. Note we have cross-wiki notifications now :) — MusikAnimal talk 15:34, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
- I've changed the signature. I was wondering why the post on meta, too.Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:18, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
Problems with using "Edit Source" option on my sandbox
Hello,
My name is Elysegrogersfan
i'm trying to develop a wikipedia aritcle draft for an artist and i'm developing a wikipedia draft article in my sandbox.
i recently experimented with putting pictures in the sandbox to see how it impacts spacing around text because i plan to add more words and pictures after i post it to for review for final submission. but it's just a draft. i would add my own pictures but this is not allowed. i just want to check out spacing of how picture boxes impact the text.for some reason the "Edit Source" option is missing. why was it removed? was this done on purpose? i really need it to be restored. when can it be restored?
actually. someone restored it. and now the easy wizard 'edit' option is now missing. hopefully u can help. thanks.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Elysegrogersfan (talk • contribs)
- @Elysegrogersfan: Greetings. I don't know of a specific method to change the button, but Wikipedia:Help desk probably knows. Good luck!Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 19:47, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

Tagging files
Why are you ignoring my request to stay away from the untagged files? --Stefan2 (talk) 09:25, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Stefan2: Mainly because I did not see a reason for them to not be tagged. I understand your issue with sloppy handling of shadowed files (e.g when copyright concerns are ignored) but that's why I did make the change to the template to alert editors working on them, it is not a reason to simply leave the shadowed files untagged.Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 09:30, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- The only ones which are still untagged are a dozen or so files with complex problem (e.g. one of the files should probably be deleted so renaming without redirect is a bad idea, or the history may need to be carefully investigated to see how attribution should be fixed or how the file should be split). They have been intentionally left untagged so that users don't start moving them around without properly thinking of what to do. Changing the documentation isn't necessarily useful as users do not always read the documentation. Why can't you start with the already tagged files? --Stefan2 (talk) 12:16, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- Some of the already tagged files have similar issues, which is why I did not empty the whole category during my sweep a few weeks ago. I'll make another pass today and leave the problematic ones alone. I do think that leaving these problem files tagged will improve their visibility though and make it more likely that an issue is fixed.Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 14:33, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

Buster Keaton Rides Again
Hi Jo-Jo Eumerous. I saw this edit you made to Buster Keaton Rides Again as part of some clean up. I'm not sure if you noticed, but your change removed a completely different file File:Buster Keaton Rides Again.jpg from the article's infobox, a file whose non-free usage is currently being discussed at Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2016 April 4#File:Title card of Buster Keaton Rides Again.jpg. In addition, your change has resulted in the same non-free image being used twice within the article which is something not likely allowed per WP:NFCC#3a. Anyway, you might want to go back and double check on this to make sure it's not a simple error. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:11, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: Seems like what happened is that both files were different solel by capitalization. I've fixed the issue, I think.Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 05:35, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

Nin-5H's request on page protection.
Kamusta (Hello) Jo-Jo Eumerus, thanks for answering my request. The reason why I requested for my page to be edited is because I don't want any vandalizations on my user page (which I really resented) to happen in the future. Hambala ko kung magpasugot ka sang akon nga sugo pag-protect sang akon nga userpage (English Translation: Tell me if you accept my request of protecting my userpage) Indi ako magpasugot sang anuman nga declinations (I won't accept declinations) --Aki (talk contributions) April 23 2016, 10:52 P.M. (PST)
- @Nin-5H: I am not an administrator and thus cannot protect the page. You can ask for indefinite semi protection on WP:RFPP however.Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 15:07, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: Kabalo ko nga indi ako magpasugot sang declinations pero, kainchindi ko (I know that I reject declinations but, I understand). I'll find any administrators who'll accept my request. Salamat gid! (Thank you!). PS, Aki (short for Akihiro) is a name of my Ninjago OC (original character). --Aki (talk contributions) April 23 2016, 11:22 P.M. (PST)
Your message about copyright
Jo-Jo
I have not been on Wikipedia since 2014. It was way too complicated for me to deal with.
You can delete anything that offends you, for whatever reason. I am not going to work on Wikipedia, so don't waste your time giving me guidance or feedback.
I never could learn how to build and manage references using the clumsy notation. It was just too frustrating and unpleasant.
So please do whatever you have to do so I don't get any more messages from Wikipedia.
Richard

Problems
- Wikimedia tested a new data center last week. This meant that the wikis could be read but not edited for 45 minutes on April 19 and for 20 minutes on April 21. [15]
- When the data center was tested, new edits were not shown in the recent changes log for 20 minutes. They are in the logs now. You can read more about how to find the edits.
- Unread notifications were sometimes counted incorrectly. This has now been fixed. [16]
Changes this week
- Wikimedia Commons will have better access to Wikidata. They can use data from any page on Wikidata on any page on Commons. This will happen on April 26. [17]
- It will be easier to choose if you want to watch files you have uploaded with the upload wizard. [18]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from April 26. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from April 27. It will be on all wikis from April 28 (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on April 26 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The "Save page" button when you edit will be called "Publish" instead. This is to help new editors understand what it does. It already works like this on some wikis. [19]
