Your edits on Conchita Wurst

Hello. Please stop adding Thomas Neuwirth as "birth name" on Conchita Wurst. Birth name is used if a person's present name differs from their birth name, which it doesn't for Thomas Neuwirth. His name is still "Thomas Neuwirth" since "Conchita Wurst" only is a stage name. Thank you. Thomas.W ^talk 20:27, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

I'm still not sure what you're trying to say? A large amount of musical artists use the birth name section of the infobox such as Kesha, Lana Del Rey, Marina and the Diamonds, and even Emmelie de Forest. If you look at Emmelie de Forest you'll see that the name that is given as "birth name" is longer than the name she usually uses, and on the other articles the "birth name" is totally different from the name they use on stage. As for Thomas Neuwirth he makes it very clear on his web site that "Conchita Wurst" is a name that he only uses when appearing in drag, that is in female clothing, and he has also performed under his real name Thomas Neuwirth, without female clothing. So he wants to be known as Thomas Neuwirth. Which is why the top of the infobox says "Thomas Neuwirth", the name that you are also trying to add as "birth name". But Thomas Neuwirth does use Conchita Wurst as a stage name? The title of the page is not the birth name, it's a stage name. And as you said the artists with the birth name section filled in have a stage name, and Tom does have a stage name, it's Conchita Wurst. Even if it's only used while he's performing in drag, it'd still be a stage name. You even said that it was his stage name on the edit summary. But anyways some artists that perform with their birth names have the birth name section of the infobox filled in: Margaret Berger, Cristina Scarlat, Mariko Ebralidze, and Tinkara Kovač, so I'm still slightly confused? { [ ( jjj 1238 ) ] } 20:52, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

The infobox already says "Thomas Neuwirth", so why would we need the name twice there? While Kesha's infobox says "Kesha" at the top and then gives her birth name as "Kesha Rose Sebert". If the infobox at Conchita Wurst had said "Conchita Wurst" at the top (which it doesn't, since consensus is that it should be "Thomas Neuwirth"...) then adding "Thomas Neuwirth" as birth name would have been the right thing to do, but not when the infobox already says "Thomas Neuwirth". As for Margaret Berger, having the name there twice is wrong, and no excuse for making the same error on other articles. Thomas.W ^talk 20:58, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

Nika Turković

{{help me}}I created the page Nika Turković and copied some sources from the article on the French Wikipedia. When I published it, there was something weird with the sources that I can't explain and you'd have to see for yourself. I'm not sure how to fix this as my French isn't good enough to fluently read the sources and it was recommend that I ask via this.

Your second ref (not very usefull) is about her sister (Kiara) known for a song and also practising Nabudo. You forgot to say, Nika is an ambassador for Not for Sale (organization) and Global Angels. There are also other tools that may be of help to view your editing statistics. To obtain them, click on the "contributions" link at the top-right, a new page will open showing your contributions. If you scroll to the very bottom, you'll find a list of other links such as your user name, edit summary, user count, etc. Clicking on each of those will provide stats on different things. You're very welcome. There are a few useful links on my user page too which may be of help. You're welcome to take a look at them and add links to your own page. Also there's some handy navboxes that contain tons of other handy guides and policies. Again if you wish to add those to your page, then you may do so. I use them as a handy tool to refer to whenever I am unsure of something, or need a quick access to view specific Wiki guidelines and policies. Jjj, May I just check that you've created talk pages by adding {{WikiProject Eurovision}} on all the ESC/JESC related articles you've created too? It is vitally important when creating new articles that we try to remember to also create the talk page for them too, so that all of the corresponding WikiProjects have a more accurate account of the number of articles within their project. For example, WP:ESC current shows 5000+ articles, but there are loads more that are unassessed. I am doing an extensive workload checking every single article from 1956 to present day, so when editors create talk pages to new articles saves me so much time. It is likely that ProjectEurovision has somewhere in the region of an extra 20,000 – 30,000 articles that are either unassessed or do not have the talk page created. JESC articles do count as well, yes. Anything that is within the scope of Project Eurovision, so that ranges from Eurovision, Junior Eurovision, Turkvizyon, and more (a full list can be found on the project home page. Don't worry if you've forgotten, as I fully appreciate that trying to remember everything can be a task within itself. Flag icons

I noticed you added flag icons to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest#Eurovision Song Contest article (as shown in this edit). There is a hidden notice in that section that clearly states not to use flag icons, as they are already used elsewhere in the article and are simply overkill of icons; which is in accordance with WP:ICONDECORATION manual of style guidance. Josephine Zec

Jjj,

Your page move of Josephine Zec has caused a bit of a problem. Firstly, we cannot assume her common name is "Josie Zec", just because her stage name is "Josie" - not unless there are a lot of sources to verify the fact - page moves for BLPs generally need to be discussed via WP:RM/C. Secondly, even though I have reversed the move, the edit history prior to your move has disappeared. This will require an admin to perform a technical move. I'll see if Cooper can help. As far was we know this could be the first time she is performing under the name Josie. Unless there are other sources to verify she has been known as Josie for a long time. We cannot assume that she has. An example of such can also be found at Declan Donnelly - who is more commonly known as Dec, but the article itself uses his full birth name. BLP articles have a lot stricter rules behind them, that we have to follow. One wrong error may cause an avalanche of issues. All this is outlined at WP:BLP, which states that we are to "adhere strictly to all applicable laws" Wes Mouse 00:46, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Sorry to have to issue this, but both yourself and RebeccaTheAwesomeXD do seem to be edit warring by constantly page moving. If you are in dispute then perhaps discussing the matter on the article talk page would be the better solution. Wes Mouse 21:05, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi Jjj,

Just thought I'd let you know that I have been discussing privately with an administrator about the recent issues in regards to RebeccaTheAwesome. We both felt that the issuing of a 3RR was the right step, but should not be seen by either party as an official "telling off", but to aid as a reminder on the troubles that Wikipedians can get themselves into if we are not cautious on our actions, or the actions of other's. Thankfully, the 3RR notice seems to have done the job and Rebecca has ceased with the moving of the article "Around". I am also considering whether to issue some helpful tips on editing so that she is aware of the complexity of the world we call Wikipedia, and hopefully reduce the number of warnings/telling-off's that she has received lately.

For example, tips on using the edit summary so other's know why she has made a specific edit; remembering to check article history and talk pages to verify why something has been done in a particular way, rather than jumping the gun, making the action, and then finding it was all for nothing when the action gets reverted. These are all common mistakes to make, and believe me, I know from personal experience. I've only been a Wikipedian since 2011, and even now I'm still learning things along the way, but feel capable in seeking advice or checking guidance/policies before making any edits that I am not 100% certain of. But I do have the handy tools/links on my main user page as a point of reference, should I ever come across a situation I am unfamiliar with. Also, I think that both Rebecca and yourself could do with taking some time to browse through the WikiProject Eurovision pages, to familiarise with how the project operates, and thus reduce the number of mistakes. It may help, as there are topics covering article creation, and making sure an article is warranted and meets the notability policy before creating anything new and finding it a victim of deletion. I shall be offering Rebecca the same advice as I am about to say now, and that being if either/both of you feel the need to have some tutorials in order to gain some experience, then I am more than happy to provide such, or even see if a member of the adopt-a-user team would be willing to help. Their knowledge is impressive and learning such knowledge from experienced users may give the advantage and comfort in knowing we can collaborate on Wikipedia without mistakes or getting into sanctioning troubles. Albania 2015

I think it is safe to say that Albanian will be in Vienna next May. Although the Eurovoix source you used states "most likely", they are souring this ESCToday post which states RTSH confirmed to ESCToday that Albanian will most likely be in Vienna - but then goes on further to say that RTSH will reveal their Eurovision representative on 28 December 2014. To me that is good enough for confirmation; I'll update Eurovision Song Contest 2015 based on this, and use the "quote" parameter of {{cite web}} to highlight this "participant reveal on 28 December".   Wes Mouse | chat  20:17, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
