Your question on my talk page
As you may have guessed I've been very busy with school haha. I can't recall why I didn't restore the text in my rv some months ago (see my talk page for your question), I must have mistakenly thought it was part of a disruptive edit. I restored the text. Restaurants
Maybe you can help me with this. Earlier, I found that Fast casual restaurant distinguished itself as an intermediate category between Fast food restaurant and Casual dining restaurant. Its only related article link though, was List of casual dining restaurant chains... and as the only link one assumes that this is the example list for the topic. List of fast food restaurant chains already exists, but List of fast casual restaurant chains doesn't exist, and List of fast casual restaurants redirects to Fast casual restaurant. I was trying to untangle this muss, but I find myself unable to create the new page, and at odds with the task of separating out the actual restaurants, some of which are listed as both fast food and casual dining (when they are neither). 71.191.159.160 (talk) 10:02, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
- If you create an account (top right of any wiki page), you can create articles (see Wikipedia:Starting an article). As simple articles are often flagged for deletion, it might be best to create the article in your sandbox (account required) (see wp:sandbox). The alternative, if you don't want to open an account, is to use Wikipedia:Articles for creation. An account helps with communication as some IP addresses are temporary and you would likely loose messages. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask more questions. Bengali film
Any more idea on how to tackle disruptive edits in Bengali film related articles? --Tito Dutta (talk) 17:07, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
- There are exemptions to the 3RR policy: see WP:3RRNO and copyright violations are one of them. You might consider requesting Wikipedia:Rollback rights (see Wikipedia:Requests for permissions) and using wp:huggle, though it has its problems as well. Huggle is faster, and rather dangerous as you can all too easily revert/and warn vandals inadvertently. I make quite a few apologies (I do numerous reverts) and relatively rare mistakes multiplied by large numbers are quite a few. If the editor does not supply a source for significant edits (a substantial change is a number is a significant edit), revert him/her and give an {{subst:uw-unsourced1| *article name* }} warning. See Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace for list of user talk warning templates. Also, see Wikipedia:Template messages for where to find other message templates. If the File:Subhashree.jpg is the same one that was deleted for copyright violation, It should be tagged as such and the uploader warned. See Wikipedia:Copyright violations. Hope this helps. Thanks for your hard work! Jim1138 (talk) 19:05, 18 November 2012 (UTC)

After that we tried edit notice, and there are edit notices in 2-3 articles now, that is also not working! Early period: 1900s-mid 1930s
The early period kanto tradition was nourished in Istanbul. The same was also true in the Post-Republican period. The city's large and diverse population provided the themes that were the mainstay of kanto. Kanto was heavily influenced by musical theatre, Roma (gypsy) music (which was however often a subject of satire in kanto songs), and Rum music (especially the Istanbul Rum who were so fond of urban forms of entertainment). In other words, kanto was the resuit of cultural exchange and lmost all the early kanto singers were either Rum or Armenian: Pepron, Karakas??????????????????, Haim[disambiguation needed], Shamiram Kelleciyan, and Peruz Terzekyan (all of them performed during the period following 1903). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.100.42.44 (talk • contribs)

Regarding the change I did on "Ice Hockey"
A boarding penalty is given when a player body checks an opponent recklessly against the boards (and the opponent is more or less aware he is about to get hit) and there was no mention of hits against the boards in that sentence. There were however a lot of mentioning of checking from behind and to the head. And if a player hits an opponent in the back or in the head, he will get a penalty for "checking from behind" or "checking to the head" even if it was close or against the boards. So either you don't really know the definition of "boarding" or know when a "checking from behind"/"checking to the head" is called.
That is why I changed "boarding" to "checking from behind". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.50.26.105 (talk) 22:09, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
Re: differences in the Retina display panel between ipad 3 and 4 in the ipad 4th generation article
Jim, I made a valid contribution about the differences between ipad 3 and ipad 4 - the link to Ifixit iPad 4 teardown article that serves as support for the statement about the Retina display being manufactured by a different third party was included to provide support and evidence. Aren't you being a little trigger-happy there. Did you even read and follow the edits I made and why?
Have a look. The quite notable and citable Ifixit people have taken the 4th generation iPad apart and found an LG display as opposed to a Samsung one: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iPad+4+Teardown/11462/1
This is important because all too many internet reviewers take it for granted that the display is the same. Wikipedia runs the risk of making the same mistake by saying that all external features except the connector are the same. While tests could yet show that the display's colors and and gamut behave differently than the iPad 3 display.
That is the link I included to help keep things verifiable and not to add some spam link as you suggest without first checking. Please fix it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.10.141.59 (talk) 03:06, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

topher67 (talk) 23:22, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
- Two things: The addition did not have anything to do with NDE. (Nothing to do with my note on your page BTW) The description of What Dreams... included "It features beautiful depictions of the afterlife" which does not have to do with NDE and is overly flowery for the summary. It would likely be OK in the What Dreams article or a special effects article. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 01:31, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

- Looking at Donnie Wahlberg, you added "Paternal grandmother is of English descent". here The Wiki page does not mention grandmother, though it does mention English. The ancestry record mention Irish, French, and Canadian, but not English. Looks like Wikipedia is not a reliable source! Where did you find that one grandmother was of English descent?
- Elijah Wood - Father is of English descent: you changed "Of partial" to "Father is of " (English descent). diff Wood's father's anscestry is not mentioned in Elijah Wood.
- Please do try to verify your information before you make changes. Happy Thanksgiving to you to! Jim1138 (talk) 21:38, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
Citation in 'Bureaucracy'
Hi, I am Burham. The following is originally the fragment of my edition which you removed on 14th November. It was citation from Concise Encyclopedia it is a fragment at the end of Merriam-Webster definitions. I found however more direct one. Finally it would be:
Robert K. Merton emphasized its red tape and inefficiency due to blind conformity to procedures. More recent theories have stressed the role of managerial cliques, occupational interest groups, or individual power-seekers in creating politicized organizations characterized by internal conflict.[1] #5 i.e. http://www.merriam-webster.com/concise/bureaucracy
Let me know if you see something wrong with it. --Burham (talk) 02:23, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- I presume you are referring to bureaucracy as a form of government. I don't see any reference to "government" in the Webster reference. If you are trying to find a reference to list bureaucracy as a form of government, can you find it in a more formal source than a dictionary? Maybe the CIA: cia.gov? November 2012
Your recent editing history at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2012 November 21 shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Stuartyeates (talk) 02:43, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- Refactoring other's talk in talk pages is considered vandalism and is not limited by 3RR. See Wikipedia:Vandalism#Talk_page_vandalism Please note the edit summaries that I left on my reverts. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 03:04, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
Alicia Keys
The article clearly states that she identifies as being multi-racial, not specifically as African American. This was explained by Xela in editing. To treat these edits as if they are unexplained is just not logical. Your approach here seems to be driven by a desire to have fewer people edit wikipedia, bu driving people off by aggresive responses to their actions. I think this has been a high handed approach, especially when the article itself states the person involved openly identifies as being multi-racial, thus of African-American descent but not being specifically African-American. Your approach seems to be to quick to threaten blocks, and too unwilling to let people explain themselves. The edit was explained, so to remove it as "unexplained" is uncalled for.John Pack Lambert (talk) 03:25, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
Xvons's latest edit
I see you deleted his latest comments, then thought better of it and put it back. What I did was strikethrough his second vote; that seems to be what people do when someone has voted twice. I left the rest of the comment entirely intact, and explained below why I did what I did. Dude needs to cool down a notch; he seems to think because I want to axe this category (really more for its nomenclature than its usage), I'm going around burning crosses in front lawns. I think my point on Talk:Alicia Keys illustrates how to deal with the biracial issue pbp 04:48, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
homopolar motor edit was legit
My edits to homopolar motor were actually legit, believe it or not! It will take me a day or two to dig up the cite, as I have it in my file at work (I am a civil rights atty). Any chance you consider letting it stand for a few days with a citation needed tag until i can get to the office on Monday? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.133.160.189 (talk) 07:01, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, but we cannot do that. Thinks about it for a moment; when you read something in a Wikipedia article, do you expect it to be backed up by a reliable source (See WP:V) or do you expect it to be backed up by "Some random person editing Wikipedia under an alias said it was OK"?
- Furthermore, even if you later come up with a citation, it is likely that your edit will be reverted again if you use that wording. Do you have a citation to a reliable source that shows that "the general ignorance of Texas law enforcement officers" is an established fact, or do you just want to insert your editorial opinion into Wikipedia? How about "considered to be illegal in the state of Texas before the advent of Lawrence v. Texas"? Do you have a citation to a ruling where a Texas court ruled that possessing a homopolar motor violated Texas's anti-sodomy statute? How about "they were erroneously believed to be a variety of homoerotic sextoy"? Do you have a citation saying that any police department in Texas made such a decision, or is your citation the opinion of one or two individual officers? Did the department back them up? Did the prosecutor?
- If properly cited, your story might be a good addition to the article, but it would have to be written in a neutral, encyclopedic tone, and it would have to stick to the facts. Something like this: "In an incident in [year] an officer of [police dept] arrested [name of arrestee]. Prosecutors [charged him with [crime]|declined to charge him] and he was [found not guilty|convicted and [released|sentenced to X time and required to pay a X fine]. The "screw a homo pole" is allowable if you can establish that it was widely reported in legitimate news outlets.
- I am not trying to give you a hard time here. I hope that you will stick around and become a regular contributor (I could certainly use some help at Plummer v. State), but you will have to learn a bit more about our quality standards. --Guy Macon (talk) 11:46, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Deletion / redirect
Hi Jim. Thanks for your message. - I do understand the general rules concerning deletion, yet this seems to be a somewhat different case. I deleted the redirect from a page, that is from a page that had no contents in the first place; and because there is no good reason for redirecting The Ebonys to a page about two guys who composed one of their songs. So, I'm not quite sure about what the correct procedure should be in such cases (as there was no actual content in the first place). - Thanks for any kind of feedback on this. Cheers --Albrecht Conz (talk) 07:37, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
- A redirect page should be deleted rather than blanked. The simplest method per Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion perhaps you could have it deleted with a {{db-misnomer}} (at the top of the page, leaving the redirect as the second line). Otherwise, you would need to use Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion. Try the first, and if it is rejected, the second. Good luck Jim1138 (talk) 07:52, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi Jim!
Thanks for showing me how to send you a message. It's all rather strange to the new-comer, isn't it? You probably wouldn't know - by the looks of it you are very adept at navigating around Wikipedia (and very fast, too!). I think it only took you four and a half minutes to rush over to Louie's page and tear up my hard work. Well done! Is it fun being the Wikipedia Police? My son wants to be a policeman when he grows up, perhaps he could talk to you and get some pointers? With regards to Louie's page, I really don't know what your issue is with what I've written. It is all 100% accurate, and I have considerable knowledge in all things Louis Fenton. Which aspects in particular bother you? If you like I can supply you with photos to prove that nudism runs deep in his family. I did note as well that you don't have a problem with the clearly inaccurate statement that he gives good head. It is a well-known family trait to be rubbish at heading the ball (the goal against Sydney was simply a fluke - for a better indication check out his miss against Newcastle last week).
Anyway, dinner is served, I better run. I'll quickly change the page back and hopefully it will still be like that when I return from the table.

writer's block page - external link removed
Hi Jim, Sorry for the misstep. Thanks for the correction and note. Will be more conservative with future links. Best, Dannykauf (talk) 09:17, 28 November 2012 (UTC)dannykauf
p.s. not sure if this is the correct way to reply to your message. please let me know if it isn't.
- This is the correct way to reply. Thank you. The link to myoclonicjerk.com/ only showed a general web page with a donation via amazon link. The main reason for the undo. Also, it is not really clear why the link is notable or even pertinent. The Writer's block segment is at an unknown time on the podcast, making access difficult and unlikely for most readers. Might want to review Wikipedia:El#Rich_media Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 09:35, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
What happened to my message?
It was there a minute ago but now it's gone. It took me about 15 minutes to find those little funny symbols you told me about, too.

Apologies, I found it!

Hi Jim1138, I saw that you put a gentle warning on my talk page yesterday regarding blanking of one of the templates. I did not mean to do so and I am also rather inexperienced, so I thought the template was related to only my own post, thus it was an accident. So, I will remove the warning.
Most important of all, it is always great to learn something new about wikipedia from experienced Wikipedians like you. Cheers! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arctic Kangaroo (talk • contribs) 14:06, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
Hi there
Hi,
Sorry, I am quite new to Wikipedia and I edited the Anglia Ruskin page. I removed the part that stated the British Accreditation Council accredited its degrees as this isn't a degree awarding body - I think the university is recognised as a degree awarding body. Jugglesaurus (talk) 10:26, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- Anglia Ruskin University does award degrees. You or I could award degrees. However, it is British Accreditation Council that says whether or not the degrees are any good by the accreditation. It may be rather irrelevant to state such on this university. BTW: I undid your edit as you did not state why you removed the content on the wp:edit summary Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 10:35, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
Hi,
The British Accreditation Council inspects private colleges - its accreditation doesn't mean anything for degrees at all. It wouldn't inspect a public university like Anglia Ruskin, either. Anglia Ruskin's degrees are recognised by the Education (Recognised Bodies) (England) Order 2010. They're recognised/accredited directly by the UK government - there's a list of degree-awarding bodies here: http://www.bis.gov.uk/policies/higher-education/recognised-uk-degrees/recognised-bodies In the UK, you and I could not award degrees. "Degree" is a protected term. You could award a diploma or something, but definitely not a degree. Jugglesaurus (talk) 10:52, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- Feel free to change it back. Obviously, I'm not an expert here. I undid your edit as you did not leave an edit summary and I did not understand your reasoning. Not because I thought you were wrong. People often delete things simply because they don't like them or just to vandalize. In the US, "degree" is not protected, and there are many diploma mills. It's a first amendment thing, I believe. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 17:34, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks - I will know to put an explnation next time. 2.29.147.133 (talk) 21:58, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

Every Wednesday, on Yahoo Music, editor Paul Grein gets exclusive info of the new Billboard chart, which will be shown on Billboard.com the following day. and it s yahoo music, he just writes his articles in a blog-style format so it can be easier for readers to read. look: http://music.yahoo.com/blogs/author/paul-grein/ every wednesday, he posts info of the new Billboard Hot 100 chart...if your a fan of music, you can start reading his articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.69.24.180 (talk) 05:49, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- Look, the person who writes these articles on Yahoo Music, is part of the Billboard team, Source (read fifth paragraph), so as you see...the source is reliable... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.69.24.180 (talk) 06:02, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- That is rather complex. Given that there are a number of people who bump ratings beyond what they are, how does one tell the difference between that kind of vandalism and postings of early releases of figures? I suspect that this will be an ongoing problem for you and I (as well as others of similar intents) Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 06:08, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- This issue stalker...I have placed this message on user talk pages. Feel free to comment
Hello,
Please see the discussion at WT:Record charts at section #4, singlechart. Do not report chart updates (or any other material) without a VISIBLE source in the article as this violates verifiability. If listed ONLY in edit summary is UNACCEPTABLE, since readers cannot be expected to view an entire edit summary for potential 'hidden' sources. - If you go to the bottom of the discussion, you will find my 'work-around' for this issue. Enjoy.
- Thank You and Happy Editing.—Iknow23 (talk) 10:23, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Notable Progressive Christians
I know a lot of IP edits are vandalism or spam, which makes any IP edit which adds an external link something of a red flag. That does not, however, make it okay to automatically label and revert IP edits as "spam" just because they include an external link.
If you take a moment to look over the John Shelby Spong and Progressive Christianity articles, you'll see that adding Bishop Spong to the list of notable Progressive Christians is not a spam or otherwise bad-faith edit. Certainly, you or anyone else has the right to challenge the inclusion of any listed individual – ideally on the article's talk page, for individuals who are not obviously out of place in the list. Or, if it seems appropriate, to suggest converting the list into a category.
Perhaps your objection is just to the external link – but if so, it's inconsistent to both remove Spong from the list entirely, and to leave the many other external links in the list. Unless there's an overriding policy for such situations, the talk page again seems like the most appropriate place to discuss whether external links should accompany listed individuals whenever applicable, or only for those without working wikilinks.
If after reviewing the articles you conclude that Bishop Spong is not in fact a notable person within progressive Christianity, and as such does not belong on the list, please make your case on the talk page so that I and others who are familiar with the subject may respond to your objections. I'm sure we both agree that this would be preferable to the alternative. --108.35.11.154 (talk) 06:21, 29 November 2012 (UTC) (This reply to a spam warning template is mirrored on this IP's talk page)
- Spong's entry on the list is not spam, but the link to his website is. I removed it and any other links to personal websites that do not support notability. I also removed redlinks per wp:listpeople. Feel free to put a brief description after his name (best to keep it on one line) to distinguish Spong from other clergy. Also feel free to add one or two external links to reliable sources (i.e. time.com or similar, but not blogs or social media for instance) that support his notability. One or two links to personal / organization sites can go on John Shelby Spong, but should not go on the list page. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 07:57, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
