Russell Brand discussion

[edit]

It's just not encyclopedic to say 'depending on your view' - we don't address the reader. 'Lewd' is sourced; what's the source for 'classic comedy'? AlexTiefling (talk) 20:50, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New to wikipedia, not sure if this is where i can answer you, I provided the link Rainbow george said it and it was reported in the press.

The use of lewd in the opening of this article, straight away makes a moral judgement and gives only one view of the situation.

whether or not certain words are offensive or not, depends on many differnt economic and social factors. For wikipedia to state that it was lewd, adds for more credence then is warranted.

Who is Rainbow George? Is he a reliable source? 'Lewd' was the BBC's own word for it. AlexTiefling (talk) 21:01, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Rainbow George Weiss and yes I think he is a reliable source. TwentiethApril1986 (want to talk?) 21:09, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow - a fringe politician and serial talk-show caller. Maybe his remark deserves a mention in the main article. Maybe. But not in the lead. The opinions of major news sources (newspapers, BBC, ITV, Sky) deserve that. AlexTiefling (talk) 21:16, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do i really need to find every single artilce and famous person, who didnt consider it lewd? for you to remove lewd from the opening? because you consider it lewd, doesnt mean it is, not because the media reported it so, The offical BBC Trust report and the OFCOM report have not been published, so you are stating something as fact, which is only personal opinion. AlexTiefling (talk) 21:16, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How many sources not using the word 'lewd' do you think it will need before the many reliable sources which have used it become insignificant? It's not just my opinion - I don't really have much opinion as to whether or not it was lewd, in fact - it's the terms in which it has consistently been reported by reliable news media. AlexTiefling (talk) 21:27, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

reliable news media, im sure that has a wiki page of its own already. Ah, i thought you was the person who sent me the message, saying they didnt know what universe it wouldnt be considered lewd...

I wasnt trying to compare the two, since when does majority equal correct? *resists talking about nazis* I was merely showing that there isnt one opinion only. Which needs to be reflected in the opening of this article. Jifro (talk) 21:35, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, it doesn't need to reflected in the opening of the article. Go and read WP:RS; then please continue this discussion on the article's talk page. AlexTiefling (talk) 21:38, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
