Andretti Motorsport

[edit]

Do you mean Andretti Autosport? --Falcadore (talk) 00:54, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, and I've fixed that. Thanks for the reminder. JeremyMcClean (talk) 01:29, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you must sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 18:25, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalizing talk page

[edit]

A user can vandalize his/her own userpage and talk page. That's not a violation of the Wikipedia policies. A violation of the policy would be if a user vandalizes another user's userpage and talk page. I hope this helps. --Sweet xxTalk 02:08, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I was just clarifying that. JeremyMcClean (Talk) 02:15, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Help!

[edit]

Trying to use the public logs ([1]), I try to type in "HIP Video Promo" in the "tag filter" search box. Proving that the bottom of this page shows that there is such an entry log. But when I search, it says that there were no items matching in the log. What's up with that? I'm a newpage patroller (a relatively new one, at that) and I try to see if the new article has been made and deleted before. If it is, then I can put it up for speedy deletion under CSD G4. However, this (rather stupid) log is bothering me. How can I get rid of the issue mentioned above? JeremyMcClean (Talk) 20:55, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong box; the 'tag filter' is for searching edit filter stuff.
You want to put "HIP Video Promo" in the Title box instead, and it will work.  Chzz  ►  21:00, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Or another way to do it is to click "View history" and look at the top left for a link "View logs for this page." Note that WP:CSD#G4 only applies if the previous deletion was by AfD, not if it was by speedy or by PROD. There is good advice for speedy taggers at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 21:05, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both. I'll remove the "helpme" template, I think I've been helped. JeremyMcClean (Talk) 23:36, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, JeremyMcClean. You have new messages at JohnCD's talk page.

Unsourced BLPs

[edit]

Hi Jeremy, good spot on that unreferenced BLP you took to AFD, however we also have some quicker routes for stuff that has to go more quickly. In particular if you spot an unsourced attack page like that one was, then just check there wasn't a clean version to revert to, and if there isn't just blank it and slap a {{G10}} on it. We have various other routes - the best one for BLPs that are new and totally unsourced is to tag them with {{BLP prod}}, or {{A7}} if they don't even assert importance or significance. Though if you think it potentially could become a valid article it is good practice to have a look and see if you can source it yourself. Cheers and once again, welcome to wikipedia! Speedy deletion declined: Frank Fat's Restaurant

[edit]

Hello Gobonobo. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Frank Fat's Restaurant, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: This isn't an attack page - it might even be notable. It did look like an attack at first, but it seems to be about a successful restaurant founded by somebody who was an illegal immigrant way back when. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 19:39, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yamato's page

[edit]

You marked my page Yamato Kashima for deletion due to not having refs, can you see if I'm adding them correctly now? I'd hate for the kid's page to be deleted due to my stupidity, thanks. Mikepellerin (talk) 02:54, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that looks good now. Sorry If I caused you trouble. JeremyMcClean (Talk) 02:58, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

re

[edit]

What do you mean? I made the article in the same way as Oil shale in Estonia and others like that. BineMai 20:54, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, so I guess the oil shale doesn't have a name. I was just asking. Thanks for the information. JeremyMcClean (Talk) 20:56, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. BineMai 20:58, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your work in adding the Minardi PS05 page. However, when you add anything to Wikipedia you must not simply copy and paste text from other websites, even into the infobox. This is copyright theft. I have rectified the above page, but if you know that you have done this on other pages it would be best if you go back and either remove or rewrite that content into your own words. Thanks. Pyrope 00:58, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see now that what you actually did was to copy and paste the infobox from the existing Minardi PS04B article. Hence, you transferred through the copyvio material that was already present. I've cleaned up that article a little as well now, so hopefully it has been completely expunged. In future you should use a fresh copy of the blank template pro forma from {{Infobox racing car}}. Bye for now. Pyrope 15:37, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Roxy Raye

[edit]

You proposed Roxy Raye for deletion under WP:CSD#G3 (blatant vandalism). There is nothing vandalistic about creating an article about a pornographic actress -- Wikipedia is full of them. And even if it is vandalism, we don't blank the page unless it is a blatant attack page, which this one was not. The fact that the article is an unreferenced BLP is grounds for proposed deletion, but there does not appear to be any grounds for speedy deletion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:51, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Terribly sorry about this mix-up, but I thought that "porno" actresses (or actors) shouldn't have a page. I was proven wrong, though, so I am sorry about this. JeremyMcClean (Talk) 21:53, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not crazy about it either, but remember, Wikipedia is not censored. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:55, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NOTINHERITED. Very few episodes are notable; there's a long standing precedent for that. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 02:35, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jeremy, You !voted in the above afd to delete based on WP:SNOW. As the afd progressed, SNOW is clearly not applicable, so I thought you may want to take a second look at the discussion. Best, --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 15:28, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

At the time of my posting, everyone was calling for a delete based on WP:NOTNEWS. However, I see that everyone has proven this point. I will change my vote after this question; should I strike out my edit on WP:SNOW and write a new comment below mine, or start from scratch at the bottom of the discussion? JeremyMcClean (Talk) 21:33, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to change your mind you should strike out your original !vote. You can place your new !vote at the bottom of the page or below your struck !vote. I would place it below the first !vote, but its not a big deal either way. best, --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 21:42, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving

[edit]

I don't know, I always do it at the beginning of every month. Some people have a bot that does it automatically every couple of weeks. Why do you ask? ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 00:09, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen many people archive talk pages. One person's been archiving them since 2008 and also has 33 archives! :D
Also, if you want something to be looked at for speedy deletion (i.e. you've just put something up for speedy deletion) do you ask an admin to make it go faster? Thanks; JeremyMcClean (Talk) 00:15, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You could, I suppose. Whenever I speedy something, I just put {{delete|reasoning}} on the page and an admin comes around to it soon. Any more questions just give me a holler. ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 00:22, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Insatanity

[edit]

This page has been tagged for speedy deletion, and the author put a {{hangon}} without creating a talk page. Do I remove the {{hangon}} template or does an admin do so? JeremyMcClean (Talk) 01:09, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops, looks like someone already deleted the page. Never mind, I guess. JeremyMcClean (Talk) 01:18, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Let me get things straight. I am NOT "Pickbothmanlol." I would never want to have a second account nor do I need one. I understand that everyone is human and that everyone makes mistakes. I would also request my sandboxes to be brought back as well. That is all I ask. Thank you. JeremyMcClean (Talk) 21:58, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

This is a checkuser-confirmed block. And that you're a sock is also evident for other reasons which I will not name here.  Sandstein  22:01, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I urge you to do an IP Check on that user. Mine is 99.245.196.204. A sock would use the same IP address, but let me make it clear that I am not "Pickbothmanlol." I think that this is a false positive, and the only thing I ask is for me to be unblocked. Thank you.

Like Alison said, you wouldn't have been caught if you'd stuck to making useful edits. FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:24, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
