Account creations
[edit]Hi there Jennedy, and welcome to Wikipedia!
I see you're involved in the Art+Feminism outreach campaigns at the moment, so thanks for your efforts in increasing participation!
I have a small favour to ask of you when you're creating accounts for participants at events, as I notice you've created accounts for other people while logged into your own account. Please can you do so using the "Use a temporary random password and send it to the specified email address" checkbox on Special:CreateAccount, rather than specifying a password in the form directly. A randomised, temporary password will be sent to the user's email address, and they'll be prompted to change their password on first login. This way, it's guaranteed for both your protection and the new user's protection that you have never had the possibility of knowing the new account's password, so nobody can accuse you of sockpuppetry, or accuse the new user of having a compromised account - it's also good practice for security.
You'll notice in your log it states:
- User account NewUser (talk | contribs) was created by You (talk | contribs) (Reason)
whereas if you check that checkbox, it will appear as:
- User account NewUser (talk | contribs) was created by You (talk | contribs) and password was sent by email (Reason)
Cheers! :) [stwalkerster|talk] 22:07, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
