Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Dexter Lee, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Athletics. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Need Clarification

[edit]

Hi Jejsiguoa, recently you have reverted my changes (in India at the 2021 World Athletics U20 Championships page). I totally accept the statement which I have added doesn't have a valid reference. But my concern is not that, some user have changed the Event's Heat rank with overall position so many times. This is the third time I have reverted the rank (so to make sure it won't happen again I added a statement which is true because I have seen it but doesn't have valid reference). Can you please let me know whether Rank in Track and road events is same as Position in Field events. If yes, I have seen a different convention being used in India at Tokyo Olympics page. Please let me know which convention is correct. Thanks, Juice Bucket Jr (talk) 14:36, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, I would advise you to see the 400m event at Nairobi 2021. Priya finished 4th in heats. Where did you get the 2nd ranked athlete had been disqualified?

I couldn't really make out the question whether Rank in Track and road events is same as Position in Field events. Could you clarify it again? And, you wrote that you had seen different data in India's Tokyo Olympics page? In which event? Jejsiguoa (talk) 16:04, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Rank which we should enter in the slot given is the position at which athlete finishes in his/her Heats not the overall position. That was the convention I have seen across several Track and road events in the wikipedia (so I have pointed out recently concluded Olypmics event, there also same convention followed). You are seeing 400m summary and changing the rank to 4. But the athlete finishes 3rd in her Heats (that's the rank I think we should enter not overall rank).

Regarding athlete who was disqualified --> In Women's 400m Heat 3 Caitlyn BOBB from Bermuda finished 3rd (not 2nd - sorry my mistake) but she was disqualified because of the lane infringement. Juice Bucket Jr (talk) 10:50, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have to investigate. The farthest I knew that the overall rank in heats are inserted. Like, I can clearly remember the Women's 100m heats (Tokyo Olympics). Dutee Chand finished 7th in her heat. But her rank was 54th overall, that was in the wikipedia table. But still, I would investigate. Jejsiguoa (talk) 17:40, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
