Hi Jeff, {{Howtoreqphoto}} is often called using a lowercase category name. Because all cats on Commons have an uppercase first char I tried adding a 'ucfirst' to {{Commons category|{{{1}}}}} in line #2 but I don't get it. Would you show me how to, please? Or is it not feasible? Cheers, --Achim (talk) 20:20, 7 October 2019 (UTC)

@Achim: Please see User:Jeff G./test#First character Template:Howtoreqphoto/sandbox case testing as related to this edit. It worked so well, I put it into production.   — Jeff G. ツ 12:38, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
Jeff, thank you very much! Argh, embarrassing, I forgot to add the ':' after 'ucfirst'... Best, --Achim (talk) 13:38, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
@Achim: No worries, none of us are perfect. :)   — Jeff G. ツ 16:55, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

deletionpedia

Hi, i want to say i really like Deletionpedia -- it's an awesome project and it's good to give a home to all those articles. Just a question, will you one day add v1 Deletionpedia pages on deletionpedia.org? What about Speedy deletion (under like a speedydelete namespace or something)? I know the wikia was deleted, so maybe it can be removed as a link from main page. however on archive.org you can find an xml dump for speedy delete wiki just before it was deleted by wikia (https://archive.org/details/wiki-speedydeletionwikiacom). afaik deletionpedia.org has all its pages except 2012-13 pages, since speedy deletion came earlier. Just wanted to see if you're willing to add those. 2601:600:987F:DE90:1C6C:F870:4495:F904 (talk) 00:24, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

Hi. Sorry, I no control over any of that. Guaka?   — Jeff G. ツ 10:15, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
Hi, this is the same anon. Is he still go on Deletionpedia? I see he isnt very active on Wikipedia 2601:600:987F:DE90:9C92:334C:5CD4:4873 (talk) 13:23, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
Hi! I'm not very active on Deletionpedia. I just want to make sure it keeps running. Check https://github.com/guaka/deletionpedia for code and issues. Feel free to add an issue about this, and even to work on it, I don't have spare cycles for Deletionpedia. Guaka (talk) 16:37, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
Okay, so does this mean I can help add pages to deletionpedia then? 2601:600:987F:DE90:84BA:BB69:8DDC:C3DE (talk) 15:19, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
What speedy deletion criteria here do you consider to be so overly protective that articles meeting them should survive on Deletionpedia? Also, what account do you use there?   — Jeff G. ツ 07:24, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Greetings / Apologies

Hi Jeff, My name is Tyrone DuBose let me begin by first thanking you for reaching out to me in regards to the page that is being built by someone. I am hoping that I'm able to explain myself to some degree so that I can clear up a mess in which I've created. A few weeks ago, my publicist informed me that someone wanted to make a Wikipedia page about me. It's not someone that I know, but I then saw that the page was up. In my being a bit overzealous, I created a account to go in and edit some of it, clearly not knowing the policies, or the ramifications behind doing so. So I truly apologize for that. In reading your descriptions, from what I gather, it creates a conflict of interest, and for that I apologize. This person didn't do anything that I asked of them to do, nor am I paying them in any way, shape, or form to do so. I now realize after reading all of the guidelines, that that was something I should never have done. In an effort to make things right, could you please just simply tell me what needs to be done so that it can be completed in the right fashion? I saw some of the issues, and just need a bit of clarity. I absolutely assure you, from this point forward, I will never touch that page again, or any other page for that matter. This is a bit above my pay grade, and I didn't want to mess up something that someone was doing for me. Working in the television and radio industry is enough, and I want to make sure that I do right by Wikipedia, the person who was creating the page, and by you. I wanted to read all of the issues first, before I reached out to you. Once again, I truly thank you, And if you could just tell me the guidelines, in a language a bit more basic that I could understand, I will make sure that they are abided by. Once again, thank you very much for reaching out.

Sincerely and respectfully, Tyrone DuBoseTyroned532 (talk) 02:26, 26 October 2019 (UTC)

@Tyroned532: Hi, welcome, and thanks for writing. Concrete examples of what you should do include: adding "{{Connected contributor|User1=Tyroned532|U1-declared=yes}}" without quotes or nowikis as the first line of Talk:Tyrone DuBose; adding "{{UserboxCOI|1=Tyrone DuBose}}" without quotes or nowikis to your userpage; and then contributing to the discussion at WP:COIN#Tyrone DuBose, including references to the above actions.   — Jeff G. ツ 14:48, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
