Hello, Jeff.

I note you like suggestions for userboxes. I have an original one that I think is kinda funny on my userpage. No obligation, some people might take it too seriously. Cheers, Efcmagnew (talk) 01:14, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, but which one? I'm not too keen on any of them.   — Jeff G. ツ 01:16, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
ouch. My personal favorite is the wikinoogie one, but meh. Hope I didn't bother you. Cheers, Efcmagnew (talk) 01:27, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

editor says he alterted the article

Fair question to find out how? No? His tagname not in article, clearly. --199.60.104.147 (talk) 02:07, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

"Hypocrites" and "To haida chieftain, You're a disruptive troll" in this edit are personal attacks. Please stop making them.   — Jeff G. ツ 02:10, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

What do you mean removed content without explaination??? I explained it in the edit summary.

Did you examine the interlang links? They are all about the film!! I moved them to the film article!

70.29.210.242 (talk) 05:38, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Why are you reverting my own talk page, with a copy of my own message on it? 70.29.210.242 (talk) 05:42, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Sorry. It was difficult to tell that you meant that the interlang lings were film-only. I have reverted my edits.   — Jeff G. ツ 05:43, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Sorry again. It seems Huggle decided to revert the wrong edit on your user talk page, I meant to revert my warning. You may remove that section if you wish.   — Jeff G. ツ 05:48, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Ok, well, atleast that's all settled. 70.29.210.242 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 05:53, 4 March 2010 (UTC).

Wikjohn09 and ABCs of Self Defense

Hi Jeff G,

Would it be appropriate or ok (or against some rule) to edit the Speedy Deletion template on Wikjohn09's ABC's_of_Self_Defense article to very boldly indicate he should visit his talk page (with link)? I somehow think s/he has not yet figured out how to do that as s/he has asked for help 2 or 3 times in edit summaries.

Best, RobertMfromLI | User Talk 06:19, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Too late, it's gone now.   — Jeff G. ツ 06:30, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps the following would suffice.  :)   — Jeff G. ツ 06:39, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Rock-It Cargo

Thanks for the help with Rock-It Cargo!! You da best! Hope I didnt mess that process up too much.

RobertMfromLI | User Talk 07:19, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome. It was a toss-up between WP:COIN and WP:AIV; I chose the former because the case was so clear-cut and because I was already actively watching that page.   — Jeff G. ツ 07:21, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for cleaning up my Talk page. I'm signing off now, so if you wouldn't mind keeping track of Arab Bank, if you're still on, thanks. I've reported on WP:AIV, but it doesn't look like any admins are working right now. Woogee (talk) 08:02, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome, and thanks for your assistance as well.   — Jeff G. ツ 08:04, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Wonders of the World (disambiguation)

Hello Jeff G. Firstly, thank you for your involvement in keeping Wikipedia organized and clean. You recently reverted an edit I made to the Wonders_of_the_World_(disambiguation) page regarding information I added about a professional wrestler w/ the nickname "Ninth Wonder of the World" due to lack of citation. However, the fact that she is known by that nickname is indeed cited in her page (Chyna) in the Nicknames section and is, in fact, verified in the very first footnote. Would it be appropriate in your opinion to allow the addition to the Wonders of the World page without a citation, assuming the information is properly cited in the relevant page(s)? That seems to be the convention with the disambiguation pages. Thanks, again! 173.64.149.5 (talk) 17:43, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Sure, just mention that there's a cite on Chyna. Thanks!   — Jeff G. ツ 17:46, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Please forgive me for contacting you here

Firstly, I hope that I have not inadvertently removed anything from your talk page. The incident with collectonian's page was wholly unintentional and, apparently, was a result of my (unfruitful) attempts at discussing this matter in a civil way with her. (I admit that I find the the methods used for adding and editing pages here to be "somewhat daunting" in the least!)

I have made every possible attempt at correcting some errors and omissions from the Shamrock Texas article as well as with discussing these inaccuracies with collectonian on several occasions. To date, these efforts have received no replies at all and have simply been deleted while I have received "warnings" about posting "promotional material" when the entries I've added are not in any way promotional. (I copied it word for word from a page which has been on wikipedia for several years, now, and edited it so that it was appropriate and relevent to the Shamrock Texas area.)

I have even made attempts at discussing the matter on the "discussion" page of the Shamrock Texas article and you can see this if you can get there before collectonian removes the attempt at discussion, again.

FYI, I have now worked with the FCC for very nearly 30 years so, if there is a person alive who is qualified to correctly post information on radio broadcast stations, it would be me. as I have attempted to tell collectonian now, on several occasions, I can reference many, many FCC applications and licenses that show ME as the person who specifies the operating parameters of said broadcast facility and would, most respectfully, ask "How on God's Earth does this make collectonian more qualified to decide what is "accurate" and what is "inaccurate" when dealing with the person who actually specifies and issues the licenses of the stations in question?"

Methinks that there is something somewhat "secretive" (and, maybe even just a bit, subversive) going on, here... The "owner" of this article is certainly VERY militaristic in not wanting the reference to the city's radio station on the article and, I see "Media" sections attached to most other articles about towns, cities and communities. Entries that look IDENTICAL to the one that I had posted... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.197.27.85 (talk) 18:19, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

First, you also remove other people's remarks from the talk page. Second, you did not attempt to "discuss" it with me, you just kept reverting and putting it back. Third, you can claim to work for the FCC or anyone else, that doesn't make it verifiable or relevant. This radio "station" runs an attack site. Its owner repeatedly vandalized both the Shamrock, Texas and the U-Drop Inn article over a long period of time before it was finally noticed, both articles completely cleaned up, and the owner banned repeatedly before he mostly finally stopped (he stop pops in now and then to try spamming the link again). Per our policies and guidelines, we do not link to sites like that "stations" which are primarily a disgusting attack piece against multiple living persons in Shamrock and the city itself. And finally, your whole demeanor and response makes me suspect that rather than being some "FCC" person concerned with the validity of the article, your are just the latest sock of this guy and his friends trying to respam the article, as no legitimate FCC representative would run around promoting an unlicensed radio station. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 18:28, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

This document confirms that the equipment formerly transmitting as KBKH is no longer authorized by the FCC to do so as of October 25, 2007, as convicted felon Terry Keith Hammond is no longer licensed to operate it.   — Jeff G. ツ 19:37, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

I need your help with the deletion thing on my article page. What I plan to do before I place link I will share it with one of you to see if it match the sentence. I dont know what all this code stuff is but I had a few links which where notable and it was deleted but it was what was used to create article and approved. How do I get those links replace that was deleted in error by editors but was approved initial editior?67.235.129.179 (talk) 21:49, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

The best place to share such a reference is on the article's talk page, with a mention at its AfD.   — Jeff G. ツ 21:57, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Jeff, this is in regards to the Ip who posted in the wrong section a little while ago, you had left them a warning this morning, and voted in the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Choctaw Nation of Florida on the article they are concerned with. They are now wreaking havoc on the article page again, changing the afd tags so they no long er link to its afd, and returning the removed cites. I'm at my ropes end with this IP, and my explanations and suggestions have gotten me nowhere with them. Can you have a look and maybe give them some friendly addvice? I'm trying to avoid contact with them as my input seems to fall on deaf ears/inflame them. Thanks and sorry. Heironymous Rowe (talk) 22:18, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Already blocked, thanks for playing.   — Jeff G. ツ 02:21, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, sorry 'bout that. I thought I'd see if you could talk them down first, but when it seemed like you might be off line, I went to ANI. I wasn't tryiung to get them blocked, but they weren't listening to anything I tried and removing AFD tags is a no no. Thanks anyway. Heironymous Rowe (talk) 04:50, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome.   — Jeff G. ツ 04:56, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

The recent changes made by Haruth to the Karachi page on the militant presence is more like a rumor and doesn't met wikipedia standards. Just go through it & you will see yourself that its a kind of vandalism to a city page.

and even the reports like Omar moved to karachi or OBL is in karachi is more like sensation.

Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.43.124.21 (talk) 05:17, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

So can i remove the section —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.43.124.21 (talk) 05:30, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Sure, but please mention that the section was a rumor in your Edit Summary for your edit which deletes the section.   — Jeff G. ツ 00:22, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Are you kidding me?! Someone Made into a PORN star???

Hi,

Could you explain why you change this into 'porn star'?: http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Made_%28TV_series%29&action=historysubmit&diff=347851215&oldid=347851105

While the description on the mtv page clearly says 'pageant queen': http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/345126/meet-angelica.jhtml#id=1605876

And gave the user who correct the description a warning?: http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=User_talk:75.36.152.206&diff=prev&oldid=347851223

Hello, Jeff G. I have declined the block request of User:76.197.242.106. It does not appear to be blatant vandalism and instead looks as the user was attempting to organize the artist on the pages in question. He needs to use an edit summary, but that in itself is not vandalism warranting the use Rollback. Kindly Calmer Waters 03:38, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Hey this is the person who tried to do edits to the Man of Iron page and the Washington D.C. Invitational Stakes. Sorry to bug you here but I didn't know any other way to contact you. I can understand the corrections to the Man of Iron page but I have to ask why you felt the need to change back the race page concerning the trainer wins? I have always been under the impression that 4 is greater than 3 and that under the category of most wins only trainers who have had the most amount of the wins or have had the same amount of wins as the greatest amount should be listed. So what I was simply trying to do was to take off the winner that had only won 3. I mean Commentator is listed on the Whitney page because he won it twice, only the Kelso and Discovery the only horses to have won it three times are listed. Just want a clarification on the need to change that last edit back. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.67.151.86 (talk) 06:22, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

You're right on that one, I've changed it back. If you had included some of that reasoning in your Edit Summary, that would have helped me and others to better understand it.   — Jeff G. ツ 06:26, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Ah okay, I will remember that for the future, thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.67.151.86 (talk) 06:30, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

User:2010II

Hi Jeff, I looked at your AIV report and I don't see a pattern of bad edits over the last little while. As regards the two you cite, the Avatar/Hurt Locker edit is inappropriate but I wouldn't call it vandalism. If it had a source it would be fine, right? ;) The Olympic edit, problem there is, I'm pretty sure they are right and the Vancouver Sun is wrong. Compare here for example and also my own OR, having watched the show, Nickelback only did one song (which was one too many IMO :). This is going to be a matter of checking other sources to pin it down. Youtube could help except the IOC is pretty rabid about chasing copyvios. I'd suggest you might think about withdrawing the AIV and pursuing discussion instead, but it's up to you. Franamax (talk) 09:27, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Why don't you first tell me which image this is about, because I have no idea what you're talking about. Disruptive and inapproptiate uploads? Calamity-Ace (talk)

edit: If it was about the Elmer Fudd image, I edited the file description, please check it out and please tell me if there's still something wrong with it. Other than that, please don't scare me like that anymore, I'm not a Wikipedia vandalist!

Thank you for the additional information about the Elmer Fudd image. I added some explanation on your user talk page.   — Jeff G. ツ 04:45, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
