If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Gavin Lurssen, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. Wuhwuzdat (talk) 23:08, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. Wuhwuzdat (talk) 23:18, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Wuhwuzdat (talk) 23:19, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jeanlurssen. You are welcome to join the discussion there. Editors have complained about your removal of COI templates from the article, and you may wish to respond to these complaints. EdJohnston (talk) 21:25, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The following was emailed to me by this user:

I am new to wikipedia and I was trying to respond to a COI on the page of Gavin Lurssen. Every time I hit "talk" on the your page it does not take me to a box where I can talk with you?
I had entered some factual information and did not realize it would be a conflict of interest since I am related to this individual. I had deleted a COI after reverting to a previous version and and did not realize this was in violation. I do apologize. I am still learning.
What do I need to do to remove the COI box at the top of this page. I just reverted to a previous version of this page which was started by an outside person. Hope this will satisfy the editors.
I apologize again for the mistakes I made.
Does this mean I cannot edit this page since I am linked to this person?
Please advise

The reason you didn't get an empty edit box when you went to my talk page is simple, my talk page already has contents. You have to Edit the page, preferably by adding a section onto the bottom of the page, just like you would edit an article.

As for the COI, I would advise you to check WP:COI, and WP:NPOV, before further editing of this article.

Thank you for reverting it back to (almost) how it was before your edits, I will take care of the minor difference that still exists (2 categories, down at the bottom). Wuhwuzdat (talk) 13:27, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
