Speedy deletion nomination of Jan Emmet Yngson
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Jan Emmet Yngson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. —teb728 t c 20:00, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with this edit to Jan Emmet Yngson. Please make your case on the page's talk page instead if you disagree with the deletion. Thank you. Jim1138 (talk) 20:42, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

Reason for deletion
[edit]This is note to add to what I wrote at WP:UND#Jan Emmet Yngson. There are many social-networking sites like Facebook where people can write about themselves and their families, but Wikipedia is different. It is a project to build an encyclopedia so that, while anyone is welcome to contribute, that does not mean they can write whatever they like. In fact, Wikipedia is quite selective about article subjects. There is a test for inclusion called Wikipedia:Notability, which is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Wikipedia:Notability (people) explains more about the sort of standard expected.
Also, in order to maintain the necessary WP:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia contributors are strongly discouraged from writing about themselves, their family or friends, or anything with which they have a close connection. For more about this, read Wikipedia is not about YOU and the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide.
You may find some ideas at WP:Alternative outlets. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 13:35, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
