This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Jay Littman, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.naymz.com/jay_littman_1992522. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policyfor further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.)

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. A tag has been placed on Jay Littman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged forspeedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. かんぱい! The article Jay Littman has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, allbiographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least onereliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. かんぱい!Scapler (talk) 21:54, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Issues with article Jay Littman

[edit]

Hi, I've taken the liberty of collapsing the automated messages above in favour of human interaction to sum up what's happening with the article. You can of course see what was there by clicking on the show link on the right hand. A belated welcome to Wikipedia. It appears you have jumped headfirst into the steeper parts of our learning curve with this article, allow me to sum up what's happening and what your options are:

  1. The text of the article is a verbatim copy of material that has appeared elsewhere on the web, demonstrably way before it was ever posted here. Wikipedia takes copyright seriously and cannot keep material published by third parties without permission to do so. If you are the author of the same text, there is a process described at WP:DCM on how to grant permission. If you are an agent for the author of that text and acting on his / her behalf, the process is slightly different and explained at WP:PERMISSION. If you are neither, the text must be rewritten from scratch using your own words or it will be deleted within 7 days from now for copyright reasons
  2. The article also does not cite any references at all. As it is a biography of a living person, we have a strict policy that every single biography must be supported by multiple independent third party coverage. Again, there is a 7 days deadline to address this issue.
  3. Last but not least, your username indicates that you might be writing your autobiography. Why this is in general a bad idea is explained in WP:Autobiography, that page also gives some pointers to work around the pitfalls for this particular type of editing.

If you need any help, you can create a new section on your talk page and add {{helpme}} followed by your request below it, someone will be along shortly to assist you. Alternatively, you may also leave me a message on my talk page. Best regards, MLauba (Talk) 00:28, 22 April 2010 (UTC) thank you for the email. Please do not delete me.[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jay Littman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
