Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Jay Bury, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Dead names

[edit]

Hi - I wanted to give you a bit of a head's up about dead names. Per Wikipedia's policy on changed names, dead names cannot be in the lead if the person wasn't notable under that name - but they can be mentioned elsewhere in the article. Essentially, this doesn't mean that the dead name shouldn't be in the article anywhere, just that it shouldn't be in the lead. If you want to remove it from the body of the article, that's something that you'd need to bring up at the manual of style page. There was a discussion where this was discussed in general here (although it was not the topic of discussion and nothing was finalized), so I'd read over that before making a discussion.
