Talk Page Confusion
[edit]I am currently reading the talk page guidelines to see if I am expected to be the initial editor of my own talk page. Jasphetamine (talk) 06:42, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
- This talk page confusion has been overshadowed by talk page confusion on a monumental scale. Holy smokes.Jasphetamine (talk) 14:41, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
Tagging of Yaqob of India
[edit]I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Yaqob of India. I do not think that Yaqob of India fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because This isn't even close to Patent Nonsense. If a reasonable reader can understand the text, even if it is poorly written or not a clear as it might be, it is not patent nonsense.. I request that you consider not re-tagging Yaqob of India for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk) 00:37, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

A whole raft of things that need tidying
[edit]As per your request Backlogs! there's a whole section on style and POV and have a dozen other problem writing styles that may be helpful to have a go at. Also see the The Guild of Copyeditors for further work in this area. Amortias (T)(C) 22:16, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Request for comment: Lead sentence for train or railway stations
[edit]In what way should the lead sentence of articles dealing with railway stations or train stations be fashioned? See discussion at Wikipedia_talk:Manual of Style/Lead section#Request for comment: Identification of train or railway stations in the lead. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 22:35, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi, Jasphetamine. I saw the tag on Talk:Sarawak, and didn't know if you know it should be at the top of the article. Please see my comment at WP:GOCE/REQ#Sarawak. Thanks for your help and all the best, Miniapolis 19:12, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Miniapolis: I didn't know that, but I also didn't put the template in. I considered removing it because it said to do so after 24 hours of inactivity and it had been six days (IIRC) but the first Wikipedia faux-pas I committed caused such a clusterfrak of aggression from senior editors and/or admins that I am still terrified of touching widely visible stuff like notification or requests templates etc.
I haven't found a page that even makes it clear how GOCE templates work, let alone how and when to implement them. I was especially confused about the procedure for suggesting an article was beyond GOCE's pay grade. Any advice on such protocol or links to pertinent guides would be massively appreciated.
Jasphetamine (talk) 22:17, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
- WelI I read over the intro guide on the request page, added a working template to the request talk page section for the article I just accepted, did that correctly... and then promptly fraked up the article talk page with a template mishap. I apologize if it screwed anything up for GOCE. Jasphetamine (talk) 22:56, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry for jumping to conclusions; I see in the history that Blackmane did it and I let them know. Please don't be afraid of making mistakes; we all did (and do :-)), and this is supposed to be fun. For some reason, I find copyediting relaxing. I used to use {{GOCEinuse}} on articles I was doing, but when it kept getting removed while I slept I gave up. Now I just check the history to make sure no one is working on it already, and remove the {{copy edit}} tag (if it's not a request article) with an edit summary like "rmv tag before copyedit". {{GOCE}} is one of our most useful tags, and should go on the talk page under the WikiProject banners (it doesn't need its own section) when the copyedit is finished. Have fun, thanks for your help and all the best, Miniapolis 23:10, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
- No worries about the template thing, Miniapolis it was good for me to learn anyways. I really appreciate you extending a helping hand to me -- I too find something oddly calming about doing C/E. I think it is a meditative fixation kind of thing where instead of worrying about the world going to hell in a handbasket six ways from Sunday I instead spend some time worried only about finding stray commas or inappropriate ellipsis usage. Clears up my brain.
If I ever sound exasperated on talk pages it is always fueled by fatigue of parsing often-archaic wiki policies, guidelines, and how-to's then figuring out the de-facto way they're actually put into use, and hoping I got it right.
This place is a damn jungle to navigate when you're on your own. My idea to get members interacting in real time to help connect GOCE users new and experienced never took off sadly. Can't lie though, it is still fun to see an idea I put forth still sitting up front and center on the GOCE page. >=)
Cheers, Jasphetamine (talk) 00:29, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Sarawak
[edit]Hi there! You claimed Sarawak on the GOCE Requests page two weeks ago and have not edited the page since then. Are you still planning to work on it, or should it be freed up for another editor to work on? It is the oldest request on the page at this time. Thanks, and happy editing. – Jonesey95 (talk) 21:27, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
- The editor working on it should be Blackmane. I'll look into why I'm flagged as having claimed Sarawak, I just said I'd be helping Blackmane. Jasphetamine (talk) 11:48, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Jonesey95: I had used the template in a response saying if the article wasn't closed I'd keep working with Blackmane. Sorry, can't say I'm entirely sure why I did that.Jasphetamine (talk) 12:14, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- Blackmane hasn't worked on the article since April 9. Blackmane, are you still working on this article? – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:33, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

- I left a message on the Sarawak talk page pinging you, Miniapolis and Cerevisae that I was out of the country over the Easter weekend. I'll be getting back into it when I return, I'm at an airport at the moment waiting for my flight. Also pinging @Jonesey95: Blackmane (talk) 14:42, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- Another thing, Jasphetamine flagged it for some close paraphrasing issues which was brought to Miniapolis' attention. The senior members of GOCE are aware that there are some issues with the article that are going to take longer to resolve than normal. Blackmane (talk) 14:44, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 24
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sex on premises venue, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page MSM (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:18, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
Knowledge
[edit]Hello,
I would be pleased if you could teach me the technical side of live events so I could distinguish useful information for Wiki when compared to not so useful. Perhaps another type of communication that's not VoIP, just really the basic grasp of it is what I'm looking for.
Thank you. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 13:22, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- What is your availability? If not done on Teamspeak or a mainstream messenger (I just need to talk, you can just liaten/type) I'll literally have to write an intro to industry standard gear which is an article in of itself. The other option is I record a video talking through the stuff but that won't let you ask questions as they come up.
- I guess you are on point on that. I might need to record it because you will explain it to me and I will get a good grasp of it. However, as time goes by I might forget a couple of details here and there that might become crucial in the long run, if that is ok with you of course. Let me know something regarding that. GOCE review of Moonshine Jungle Tour
[edit]Hi Jasphetamine, Last month you volunteered to do a copy edit of Moonshine Jungle Tour from the GOCE Requests page. Generally, we like to have these reviews done within a week of when the editor starts working on it. Will you be able to finish your work on the article soon? If not, please let us know so that another editor can take the assignment. Regards, Tdslk (talk) 22:10, 6 September 2018 (UTC)
- Tdslk I'm currently working on it. Sorry about the delay. Jasphetamine (talk) 16:57, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- Glad you're back, as the section needs someone with knowledge about the topic. Cheers! Tdslk (talk) 19:49, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
hi, you're invited to an RfC discussion regarding Bruno Bettelheim article
[edit]As a past contributor, you're invited to a Request for Comment (RfC) discussion on the article's lead sentence. FriendlyRiverOtter (talk) 02:12, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for a very prompt response, and if you get a chance, please sign your post with four tildes (~).
And any additional work is always appreciated, but with the Bettelheim article, only if the subject draws you in. FriendlyRiverOtter (talk) 16:35, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
Hi Jasphetamine, thanks for your work on the requested GOCE copy-edit of this article. After looking at it in detail, however, we've declined the copy-edit request for now; see the discussion at REQ Talk. That doesn't mean you can't continue working on the article if you wish, just that a full copy-edit is unlikely to benefit the article in its present form for long. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 20:08, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
Copy that, thank you for your guidance. Jasphetamine (talk) 22:28, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
Hi, invite to join new RfC on Bruno Bettelheim
[edit]Hi, thanks for participating in last May's RfC (Request for Comment).
I wish to invite you to join a new one with the specific question of:
- Should our lead sentence describe Bettelheim as a "self-proclaimed psychologist"?
- started: Feb. 25, 2020
Any time and effort you wish to spend on this will be most appreciated. Thanks. FriendlyRiverOtter (talk) 01:52, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
