License tagging for Image:AlfredESmithBuilding.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AlfredESmithBuilding.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:04, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

WTMM and WEEV

[edit]

On your user page, you noted that you made a significant contribution to the article on WTMM. As of today, WTMM changed its calls to WEEV in the wake of WTMM moving to the former WABT. I changed the link from WTMM to WEEV seeing it was the last link to the WTMM page that I did not change to the WEEV link; doing this allows me to change the redirect of the WTMM page. I apologize for any inconvinences and/or unintended wrongdoing. Scrabbleship 18:42, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you uploaded Image:AlfredESmithBuilding.jpg, you did not specify complete source and copyright information. Another user subsequently tagged it with {{GFDL-presumed}} and, for some time, it has existed on Wikipedia under the assumption that you created the image and you agreed to license it under the GFDL. This assumption, however well-meaning, is not legally sufficient and the tag is being phased out. Images using it are being deleted.

This image has been tagged for deletion and will be deleted in one week if adequate copyright information is not provided.

If you, personally, are the author of this content, meaning that you took the photograph yourself or you created the chart yourself (and it does not use any clipart that you did not create), please retag the image with a free image copyright tag that correctly describes your licensing intentions, usually {{GFDL-self}} or {{PD-self}}. Please also make sure if you have not already done so that you write a good description of what the image depicts, when you took the photo, and other important details. This will allow Wikipedia to continue using the image.

If you did not create the image or if it is derived from the copyrighted works of others, please keep in mind that most images on the internet are copyrighted and are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others and does not use images unless we know that they have been freely licensed. Any creative work is automatically copyrighted, even if it lacks a copyright notice. Unless the copyright holder has specifically disclaimed their rights to the image and released it under the GFDL or another compatible license, we cannot use it. If you did not create the image, and cannot make the image compliant with Wikipedia:Non-free content, simply do nothing and it will be deleted in a week. All other non-free images must follow these rules.

Please feel free to contact me on my talk page or leave a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions with any questions you may have. Thank you. Aksibot 21:24, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The image was deleted on June 19 by Enochlau. [1] Please tell him that it was in fact a GFDL image so that it can be restored. --Albany NY 20:38, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:AlbanyColonieDiamondDogs.GIF

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AlbanyColonieDiamondDogs.GIF. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:43, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Capital District

[edit]

Hi Jasebasketball,

I see from your contributions that you're not very active on Wikipedia anymore, but I must say, your contributions related to the Capital District are commendable. That said, maybe you'd be interested in coming back a bit to help out with a new WikiProject: WikiProject Capital District. Any help you could offer to us would be very much appreciated. ~ ωαdεstεr16«talkstalk» 01:44, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Bradfield Hall Cornell.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Bradfield Hall Cornell.jpg, which you've sourced to http://ccams.eas.cornell.edu/index.php?page=exp_bradfield. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Dianna (talk) 00:02, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Great work expanding

[edit]

Thank you for expanding sections on Streets of Albany, New York, you're really done a great job. However, NY 85 remains four lane through all the roundabouts from Blessing to New Scotland (at which point it is actually LaGrange Road), [2] and [3] might be helpful for clarification and citation.Camelbinky (talk) 20:02, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Camelbinky, you are correct on that, but the section of NY 85 I refer to in the article is the portion prior to Blessing Road- the section of road between that initial roundabout, and where it crosses over the NYS Thruway into the City of Albany. As confirmed by Google Earth imagery from the current year, this portion of the Slingerlands Bypass is in fact a two lane road once the four-lane limited access highway downgrades just beyond Krumkill Road. Hence, I would appreciate it if you could revert the page back to my previous edit. Jasebasketball (talk) 20:32, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Marlboro, New York may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • * [[Wade Davis]]- Pitcher for the [[Kansas City Royals]'
