Homesteads

I put together a list of (gazetted) homesteads in Western Australia last night. There are 5000 of them! I'll post it to User:Snottygobble/Drafts/List of homesteads in Western Australia tonight. Is it encyclopaedic?

I'm not inclined to red-link all the names, as the vast majority are completely non-notable and won't ever merit articles. I'll leave them unlinked and we can manually link the worthy ones e.g. Cattle Chosen, Glengarry (Western Australia), Kirkalocka Station, etc.

West Coast railways

Hi. I think I've seen in museum displays that the North Mount Lyell Railway terminus was at Linda, but you have written several articles that say it was at Gormanston, which the museums say was a Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company town, the rival before the merger. Do your reference books support this? Was the North Mt Lyell railway extended to Gormanston before being closed? Incidentally, the museums (especially Zeehan) suggest that North Mount Lyell had the good ore, but Mount Lyell had the competent management. I don't think I've collected any brochures or books to cite though, just my memory of what I've read. --Scott Davis ^Talk 07:48, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

History of WAGR - Passenger Carriages

Hi all, I have just looked through a new release called A History of WAGR Passenger Carriages ISBN 0646459023 written by Andrew May and Bill Grey. As the name says is covers all carriages used by WAGR includes original photos, drawings/diagrams and scaled drawings. It covers purchase and where the were used (including carriage numbers). Its upto date with sections on AEA & AEB (current metro passenger cars) and the WDA, WDB & WDC the current prospector trains. Gnangarra 07:48, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

History of Western Australian railways

I really like this article History of rail transport in Ireland and the animated gif file which shows the disappearing railway network. You're the railway expert here. How much info do we have and could we do something similar? (I saw a map in an old Early Days a while back showing the southwest timber milling network and it was enormous). -- I@n 09:43, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

I happened to see an interview last night on the ABC collectors show about someone (and his fellows) who collects train timetables. These often contained extensive info and maps. I will track down details if you think it will be useful. As I have said elsewhere, trams coud be included somewhere. Yes. You can't photocopy it or trace it. But you can re-express the information it contains on your own map. i.e. you provide the same information, but you make your own choices about composure, captioning, legend, colour scheme, etc. You don't even have to be willfully different; e.g. you can still use the standard crossed line to indicate a rail line. PS, actually, when i first got interested in Indonesia, that era fascinated me - it was actually pretty scary, wells with generals thrown down them, rampages in Java and Bali. I should look into it again, but once we get at least GA for Indonesia. Cambodia and Bangladesh have FA so there is no reason why Indonesia shouldn't. If you're talking about User:789suj98e7fh8sfdf98udfu8dfu9sdufdsf8377dh8nsdsncskj, he's been blocked due to vandalism and inappropriate username. There is a policy on usernames, located at WP:USERNAME. Normally, when the person in question vandalizes, it's obviously best to revert/undo their edits. In this case, a username like that is immediately eligible for blocking due to the username policy. You may report such users to WP:AIV; that page is mostly for vandalism, but I've seen people use it to report username violations too. I hope this helps somewhat. Don't know much - anymore. I used to know quite a bit 10 years ago, but one forgets. I don't know that article well either. Wasn't he busted for some scandal with sugar while was a commander of the Salatiga post of ABRI? Then he was shipped off to the ABRI academy in Bandung for punishment or "summat". Boans

I can remember them in the old building mid 80's I was selling the daily news on cnr murray and barrack(84-85) Carillion opened 83-84, Cinema City opened 79-80, but by time I started driving tour coaches in 1989 it was gone and murray st was closed around then. Also lost the No.3 carpark as well at that time. The Padbury building, I dont know which may suggest it was well in decline by then if not gone, (I remember the old building for 78's on hay street but nothing about them before that) was it on the opposite side of forrest place next to the post office? Wikiproject Indonesia Newsletter

New newsletter WikiProject Indonesia has grown incredibly! Two months ago, when the project was created, there were only two members, but now, we have got over 20 members, and hopefully it will keep increasing. Because of this large number, now WikiProject Indonesia has it's own newsletter, which will be delivered every week on Monday morning, around 22:00 (UTC). If you have any idea and suggestions, please do not hesitate to contribute to the next newsletters. We also need to find a better banner for the newsletter, so just post it on project's talk page. With your help, we can reach the even the impossible goal! "Bersatu kita teguh, bercerai kita runtuh" What's new? Several ways to increase the interactions between editors have been proposed. For now, the best solution would be the IRC Channel just for WikiProject Indonesia. Please go to #wikipedia-id if you have had experiences with IRC Channels. Or read the instructions at Wikipedia:IRC. Three new barnstar design have been proposed! Articles improvements The previous two weeks were maybe the best and tiring week for some of us. On the good side, we have got a new Good Article, which is Toraja. However with the spirit of 1945 we will always accomplish many things! Starting this week (October 17), the collaboration durations have been extended, so now we can collaborate to improve a particular article for two weeks straight.
