Categorisation

[edit]

Please stop creating categories as blank pages, they are not simple metatags but part of a hierarchy. As such they should always be created with links to parent categories, at the moment you are responsible for a majority of uncategorised categories on the whole of en Wikipedia. Also if you look at the hierarchy to see what's already there, you will see that eg Category:Abandoned villages in Latvia would have been better named Category:Former villages in Latvia, as there's already various Category:Former villages by country categories. Just generally, avoid WP:OVERCATEGORISATION and categories with only 1 or 2 articles, it's better to put articles in 2 more general categories than 1 more specialist category. Good categories have 30+ articles, not one or two. Le Deluge (talk) 13:44, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
