Welcome Jamiesonandy!
Hello Jamiesonandy. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I'm Jauerback, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge.

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
  Introduction to Wikipedia
  The five pillars of Wikipedia
  Editing tutorial
  How to edit a page
  Simplified Manual of Style
  The basics of Wikicode
  How to develop an article
  How to create an article
  Help pages
  What Wikipedia is not
Some common sense Dos and Don'ts:
  Do be bold
  Do assume good faith
  Do be civil
  Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
  Don't spam
  Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
  Don't commit vandalism
  Don't get blocked
If you need further help, you can:
  Ask a question
or you can:
  Get help at the Teahouse
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{Help me}} here on your talk page and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles
  Perform maintenance tasks

Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates
Subscribe and contribute to The Signpost
Translate articles from Wikipedias in other languages

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

Sincerely, Jauerbackdude?/dude. (Leave me a message) 18:37, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on User:Jamiesonandy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because it appears that you are not here to build an encyclopedia.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Orange Mike | Talk 05:57, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Orangemike: he was asked very plainly to stop it yesterday, and as far as I can see he did, and then like ten hours later you blocked him. Seems rather punitive. This person is clearly just a bit lost and confused, are you sure an indef block many hours after their last edit is the correct response? Just Step Sideways from this world ..... today 17:46, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jamiesonandy - I'm Girth Summit, an administrator here. A few other administrators are discussing whether this block is really necessary or helpful. Just so we're clear - Wikipedia isn't a forum for asking questions about banking. There are places on the internet where you can ask questions like that - Quora jumps to mind, I'm sure there are others - but Wikipedia's Helpdesk and TeaRoom are there to help new editors with advice about editing Wikipedia. You might also want to speak to a solicitor about the banking issues. If you were to post something here indicating that you understand that, and that you'll stop asking for help with the bank account issue, I'm sure that the community would be happy to unblock this account with no further questions asked. Best wishes Girth Summit (blether) 13:10, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jamiesonandy, adding to what Girth Summit wrote above, I see that the initial answers to your query at the Teahouse included a link to Wikipedia:Reference desk/Humanities. The "reference desk" noticeboards are the only place on Wikipedia for general questions, as opposed to questions about editing Wikipedia, but even they are not highly likely to provide the kind of authoritative expertise you need. Before consulting a solicitor, I would suggest trying Citizens Advice (the organisation, not the Wikipedia article!) But where you've run into trouble is that you've been asking the volunteers who create and maintain an encyclopaedia. I'm afraid to say we're simply not the people to ask. (Also, when you wrote of contributing for many years to Wikipedia, I suspect you meant donating to the Wikimedia Foundation, which is just the organisation that owns the servers and is responsible for the software the volunteers use. People reading this have assumed you were claiming to have made edits—which we refer to behind the scenes as "contributions"—for many years. I hope this further clarification is helpful. Unblocked

[edit]

Most of what I was going to say has been said by others, above. Asking for help at WP:Help desk is like asking your grocer; it is simply not what the Help Desk is for. I'm removing all the other text I was planning to include here because Girth Summit and Yngvadottir's answers can't really be improved on. I will note that offering to share the money with anyone who will help you strikes an odd tone with me, but I'll choose to assume everything is legitimate here. Please follow their advice, and if you have any questions, ask here on this page. Floquenbeam (talk) 21:10, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
