A personal welcome
[edit]Hi Jamesdanielclark,
- Some folk have already given you a rubber-stamp welcome but I'd like to make it more personal. Welcome aboard! If you need any help, just ask. Personally, I do some work on transport articles and have cited biglorryblog &c and I think there's room for improvement in these areas.
- Sources are your best friend. If you want to get the Commercial Motor article off the ground, it's going to need independent sources (ie. other people/organisations talking about CM) in order to pass wikipedia's notability rule. If you want to add content to an article, sources are the best possible foundation. And if you get into a dispute with somebody, asking "What do the sources say?" is the best way to solve the problem. bobrayner (talk) 11:05, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
- Looks like commercialmotor.com is down. Is it likely to return? Has it moved? Or is it game over? bobrayner (talk) 14:09, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
- Commercialmotor.com is back up and running, it was a domain renewal issue that has now been resolved. No plans as far as I know to move the site! Jamesdanielclark (talk) 08:33, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

DGG ( talk ) 04:44, 30 September 2012 (UTC)The article you created Commercial Motor
[edit]Thank you for your submission. I appreciate the declaration in your User page as an employee. Please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia: Promotion, which should be of help. Connected-contributor contributions to Wikipedia articles are discouraged. I have added banner-flags and cleaned-up several aspects of the article and left guidance within the edit summaries.
There is a standard message for this but as you've been welcomed and messaged previously I've made it a personal message. Thank you.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 14:03, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Rocknrollmancer: Thanks for this. I am aware of the Conflict of Interest advice, which is why I declared my position as an employee of the parent company. Commercial Motor also went through the Articles for creation process as recommended. Creating the article was purely a personal decision, although I appreciate you will have to take my word for that and it still constitutes COI. On a side note, I am interested in your removal of the list of past editors for this title. This was based on other Wikipedia articles relating to print publications, for example The Spectator#Editors, New Statesman#List_of_editors, The_Herald_(Glasgow)#Editorship and so on. I genuinely believed it was standard practice, and would be interested to hear why you believe Commercial Motor is notable enough to warrant an article but not notable enough for that article to include a brief list of former editors? (Sorry, reading that back it sounds a bit confrontational - it was a genuine question meant in good faith)
