John Trevelyan photo
[edit]Hi there! Hope you don't mind my message. I saw that you added a new photo of John Trevelyan to his Wikipedia page, courtesy of the family archives. Are you by chance a relative of his? I just wrote my MA thesis about JT, so I was pleasantly surprised to see this new photo of him. Thanks! Jteditor1995 (talk) 14:01, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I am James, his eldest son. I would love to have a copy of your thesis to share with other family members. Thanks so much for writing. There are some other corrections/additions to come for his wiki page. I am relatively new to editing wikipedia, but I do a lot with other wikis. You can find me at The University of Western Australia or on LinkedIn. Emeritus Professor James Trevelyan, School of Engineering, The University of Western Australia (talk) 22:57, 3 June 2024 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, JamesTrev. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page John Trevelyan (censor), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. This notice extends to the page Australian Engineering Heritage Register as well, as you seem to be involved in some capacity there as well. Felida97 (talk) 12:40, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, Felida97. I will provide appropriate COI declarations. On the connected contributor page (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Template:Connected_contributor) it is unclear how to obtain the DIFF number for this entry: "|declared= :Provide the diff number in which the COI editor has declared their connection/financial interest in Wikipedia. Can also be used as a yes/no parameter if there is no diff. Optional." Can you help me with that? In coming days I will provide the necessary COI declarations. Emeritus Professor James Trevelyan, School of Engineering, The University of Western Australia (talk) 04:26, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Felida97. I have made the necessary changes - if something additional is needed, please advise. Thx. Emeritus Professor James Trevelyan, School of Engineering, The University of Western Australia (talk) 10:34, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
