Welcome!

Hello, JamesChemFindIt, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

However: Please do not add commercial links (or links to your own private websites) to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia as we drive for print or DVD publication; see the welcome page to learn more. Thanks. Spam

[edit]

Hi James - Thanks for your message. In some cases your links lead me to a page that required a login (which is therefore inappropriate); in others to pages that appeared inappropriate for an article (e.g. activated carbon in soot as well as activated carbon); those that did not need a login lead to a page that primarily listed a set of commercial links - whether this is your company's commerical interest or theirs (and I suspect your company gets paid for these links?), the links are therefore still commercial. You also (a) added no edit summary and (b) didn't indicate that the links had any specific use to the article (each was just labelled "Chemical Data and Suppliers"). I'm afraid I'd still consider the additions spam, but you're welcome to try and find a second opinion. Stephenb (Talk) 14:50, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
