Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Dear Jalo: welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user talk (discussion) page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. A third option is to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator.

One last bit of advice: please sign any discussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD!   - PatricknoddyTALK (reply here)|HISTORY 20:43, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image issues

[edit]

You were a part of the deletion discussion at the commons, commons:Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Lammers0007.jpg. If you want the image to be recreated, you must supply the necessary license information. It seems like the editors at the commons were concerned about the date of death of the photographer. If you have found that information, then great. If you need more help, I suggest reading commons:licensing, and asking questions on that talk page. I am not an admin at the commons so I'm not positive of there procedures there. As for here on wikipedia, I'm willing to accept that since the image didn't pass muster at the commons, that it wouldn't be appropriate here (unless you want to recreate the image as a fair use, non-free image with a proper rationale). Sorry I couldn't have been more help. If you have addition questions, feel free to contact me. -Andrew c [talk] 14:05, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

Thanks for your edit of 10:25, 25 November 2008 to the Alonso de Córdoba article adding the interwiki link to the Italian Wikipedia. I do appreciate such links. This may seem picky, but it is considered polite, some wikipedians say essential, to include edit summaries when editing Wikipedia articles. This is true whether adding content, correcting a typo, or suggesting a merger. As the Help page says: "An edit summary should strive to answer the question, "Why did you make this edit?". Providing an edit summary, even if the edit is minor, makes Wikipedia work better by quickly explaining to other users what your change was about." See Help:Edit summary. When I add an interwiki link, I usually just put "interwiki it:". but others just put "it:" Anyway, thanks again for your work. --Bejnar (talk) 23:21, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Image license

[edit]

Hi Jalo. I've restored File:Tepoztopilli.jpg. Feel free to leave me a message if you need help sorting the issue out. Regards, FASTILY (TALK) 21:29, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jalo. If it's not too much trouble, I was wondering if you could file a username usurpation request on it.wikipedia for me. I hold the account "User:Fbot" on en.wikipedia (which I plan to use as a bot account), but someone else holds an account by that name on it.wikipedia, and I would like to unify (create an SUL) User:Fbot. Thanks in advance, FASTILY (TALK) 17:08, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

wikEd translation

[edit]

Hi Jalo,

I have updated your wikEd translation to the current version (0.9.119c). It would be great if you could find the time to translate the new additions into English. Please let me know here if you have any questions or suggestions.

Thanks in advance, Cacycle (talk) 14:03, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
