Conflict of interest

[edit]

Hello Jahoerbelt. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Brandman University, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

A statement such as "I was asked by a member of the college administration to consider creating an accurate, neutral article" suggests there is an underlying conflict. Of course, it's still possible for you to write a neutral, well-supported article—you just need to exercise caution in editing.C.Fred (talk) 16:57, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest

[edit]

Thanks for replying.

I understand the conflict of interest rules. I am writing all of the content myself and I'm not affiliated in any way with Brandman University. I don't know anyone who goes there. I'm not even located on the same coast of the U.S. as Brandman. Therefore, I feel like I can write a neutral, non-biased article.

The reason for wanting to write this article is that the inclusion of the Brandman University section on the Chapman University article is misleading. Brandman is part of the Chapman University System but it is a separate, accredited institution for adults and non-traditional students.

If you feel that the Brandman section should just be expanded to contain all of the accurate information on the Chapman University article, then I will do so. I just want to provide the most accurate information possible.

Thank you Jahoerbelt (talk) 17:07, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
