License tagging for Image:Afghan paki border rel88.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Afghan paki border rel88.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:05, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Durand Line

[edit]

Hi. I wrote the 2nd to last and 3rd to last Durand Line paragraphs some time ago in line with my work at the US State Dept. Off. of the Geographer. The other parts have been "hammered out" by numerous editors over the years. So I hope you can see why I recommend that you first take some of what you wrote and put it on the Durand Line discussion page if it is directly relevant to the Durand Line, and see what reactions/comments it receives. Remember the importance of keeping a Neutral Point of View and supplying sources: check out the Wikipedia help on that.

Much of what you wrote (while very interesting) belongs under some of the "See also" articles such as Balochistan or the Afghan-British Wars, and not under the Durand Line article, which we have over the years attempted to keep concise, with a focus on the Durand Line boundary itself.

By the way, the one Durand Line map that you selected has some serious mistakes in it....the CIA cartographers who did that map in the 1980's (thus making it copyright-free) mis-identified the Durand Line on it! (it is not the black line) and have since done corrected versions which you can also easily find on line.
