Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Mean as custard (talk) 06:53, 29 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Tongxiao, Miaoli. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you insert a spam link. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for adding spam links. Persistent spammers will have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia and potentially penalized by search engines. Request reason:

Hy BethNaught It is not my intention to create spawn, nor advertise, nor have any commercial intention The side is basically only an help for my daughter , and have added the map feature using the mysql database by an additional mediawiki extension in one of my servers I was under the impression that the data ( by the php script links) was adding real value to wikipedia as this data is in most cases fully missing in wikipedia nor wikipedia has the advantage of this graphical map info.

Presently i was adding an function that would guide people directly to (existing or create new) school pages in wikipedia as i am not an vehicle to create and maintain a public school information wiki ^_^

But apparently you have another opinion, but that can happen in life.

Perhaps it is an good idea to check with your colleagues if on the other hand the method that i am using to present the MAP info would be an good standard internal mediawiki extension addition inside wikipedia as the user interface is much more appropriate to gain (wikipedia) access to desired info in this case

regards

You have added links to your personal website to about a hundred articles. That's linkspam. Huon (talk) 22:14, 29 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Sorry ^_^ about my enthusiasm to add indeed for some of the city's in taiwan the selective educational data that belongs to that city as that was missing fully in those pages. As you can see that the link https://qbox4u.com:8081/conf/abc/mwk/index.php?title=Taiwan_School_and_Buxiban_(Cram)_List consist at the end of an &sel=city&nam= ....... This triggers the database to select the data that belongs to the appropriate city and is maintained in an single place (MySQL table) The biggest problem wikipedia has regarding this subject, is that i already discovered that quite a big number of people are trying to do the same job by adding on an stochastic base schools in different pages without any correlation to each other nor that the data is correctly updated nor that there seems to be some lacking (mediawiki required) structure in the city pages. Updating the Wikipedia pages manually would be considering the amount of cities and schools an full time job, don't even mention my idea to expand this feature in an simple way to other countries ( multiply the affected page data by xxxx your best guess ^_^ ) Again, it is an hobby from me to expand and use the features of mediawiki as this free application is an perfect php platform with an magnificent easy user interface both for users and people that would make their own internal functions.... Back to your remark... linkspam yep, i added links, as the data is missing and wikipedia has no automated method to provide mysql==>school_data data sets, nor the required php extension functionality for that Adding the links is at this moment for me the only possible method to maintain correct information as adding missing school data is NOT inappropriate or you have another idea

An solution for your dilemma for external wikipedia links could easily be solved by making an mediawiki extension that would absorb the external data and inject it into the wikipedia page itself (meaning you are in control ^_^)

I think you misunderstand at least part of the problem. Your website, by Wikipedia's standards, is not a reliable source. Wikipedia should not link to it; much less should the MediaWiki software be modified to directly import data from someone else's database beyond the Wikimedia Foundation's control. Request reason:

Thanks for the last info you gave Huon It is now crystal clear for me that as we are not an reliable source, no direct linking is possible
I will refrain myselves in the future to do so and will check if other page owners are willing to do the hard labour by updating manually an huge number of pages with the missing related data . ps: The source of a data where the origin lies will also be identified to assure reliability and continuity for others Perhaps it is possible for you therefore to unlock the account again?

Accept reason:

As you have agreed to stop linking to your site, I have unblocked your account. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 09:28, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
