Here[1]is what you should read first. It has some basic stuff you should know. Also, so you do not vandalize articles without knowing it I will tell you what to not do.

Deleting all the content on a page
Put nonsense in pages
Putting your POV in pages
Advertising
Editing other peoples user pages unless you are reverting vandalism
Anything you think may be against wikipedia guidlines and policies don't do.
