Loki pic

hey so...I added the alternate universe of Loki in the Loki Vol 1 issues. And seeing as how thats the reality the main picture in the infobox is from, would you consider letting me change that picture and moving the one there now to the "other versions" section? Template:Marvel Cinematic Universe

Hi! Why did you made this edit to Template:Marvel Cinematic Universe? I'm not trying to be a dick, I just genuinely want to know what your reason was.. maybe there was a precedent or discussion I overlooked. Thanks! Alex Douglas (talk) 13:31, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

The long and the short: That format was pushed a while back and the consensus was that it just doesn't work.
Think about it - 8 columns can cause wrap issues based on browser configuration, screen, and graphics combinations. Or worse, push part of the 'box off screen. And there is a very good chance that that isn't going to be the final film count.

Template parameter

Yesterday, I noticed that some code I have been using for month actually added {{state|}} to a lot of pages. It is not the usual change that the code makes. Please remind me what pages you are talking about. I left a message at User_talk:Frietjes#Code_change.3F regarding the code that I use.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:07, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Actually Tiny, I'm not pointing out unwanted code showing up on a page. I'm pointing out that you are removing the ability for the templates to function properly.
There should not be an article level override of the templates collapsing. If that was the intent, the base template for navboxes would have the feature in place and you wouldn't need to code in the by pass.
If there has been a consensus for what you are doing, point to it. Otherwise, please stop and undo your edits.

Can you comment at Frietjes (talk · contribs). I am actually just helping him. I don't even understand the code. I would not be able to discuss its merits on a level that would be cogent.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 22:31, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Magneto - July 2012

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. For the Magneto (comics) page. Working as a tag-team with Dream Focus to do what you want is not editing, it's using Wiki procedures to bully people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Myst3 (talkcontribs) 18:12, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:1968 Batman Superman Hour.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:1968 Batman Superman Hour.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:08, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi JGreb, I was wondering if I could direct you to this discussion I started on Nightscream's page about possibly merging the "In other media" section of most symbiote related articles to reduce the overlap and redundancy. For instance Symbiote (comics) replicates info from Venom (which replicates info from Eddie Brock and Mac Gargan), Carnage (comics) and Scream (comics). I was thinking that a Symbiote in Other media or something similar that unified the Symbiote related material would be useful and allow us to better maintain/police that info to prevent massive repeating of information across pages and additions that are difficult to verify and which may appear on one page and not another. I'm not 100% how to handle it at the moment, I've started User:Darkwarriorblake/Symbiote in other media to try out some ideas and others here, struggling at the moment to think of the best way to organize it as level 3 headers suck and are unidentifiable against level 4 ones, and level 1 headers look terrible. Don't know if you would be interested in discussing any ideas or not. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 13:21, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Another option could just be to create Venom in other media since that is the major offender. Another struggle I'm having is if that should include appearances of Eddie Brock since he only ever appears as Venom, so I could just remove his media section and link to Venom in other media. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 13:23, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
Short of seeing a centralized discussion - the Spider-Man work group talk page would be a good place for it - I've a few comments.
  • The amount of plot that is distributed over the 6 articles is appalling. All of it needs a trim.
  • Venom (comics) possibly needs to stay, just so Eddie Brock doesn't become a confusing mess.
  • The other option would be to move Venom (comics) to Venom symbiote and make Venom (comics) a set index. That would be preferable since it would allow simplification of the text. It would also relocate the IOM and Alt Version sections to the set index.
- J Greb (talk) 22:06, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
Nightscream suggested the Spider-Man work group too so I will give them a go. I normally avoid workgroups since they tend to be dead and noone bothers but I will see. So you are suggesting to make Venom (comics) just a list of Venom related things? So a host as a header, then a "main article" link and Alternative versions of Venom could probably be quite easily merged into such an article to create a complete Venom index. That kind of thing? Then the current Venom (comics) would be moved to Venom symbiote but trimmed? That sounds like a good idea. Under my proposal Venom (comics) would have stayed, just the media section would have been excised, and the media sections in all symbiote related articles would have a link to Symbiote in other media. This is easy for Brock since I don't recall him ever appearing solely as Brock, whereas you probably wouldn't add one to Flash Thompson since I don't think he has ever appeared in other media as Venom. I can't remember if I linked you to it but I started a sandbox for this concept at User:Darkwarriorblake/Symbiote in other media. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 23:50, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
I threw User:Darkwarriorblake/Venom (comics) together as an index (it's not written up or anything, just merged and organized) based on your idea. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 19:51, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Would it be possible to protect this page, it is currently a redirect but editors unfamiliar with WP:NFF keep trying to create the article in light of the recent Comic-Con attention. Occasional exceptions are made when the there are an overwhelming number of reliable sources on unique aspects of the film, but the article hasn't reached this status yet. Thank you.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 03:34, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

A message from Venoumy

  • Why can't I recreate The Joker template, he is the most notable villain and even more important and notable than Catwoman so if she has a template, why can't The Joker have one.
  • Secondly, Joker Venom is a very notable subject, it is The Joker's most famous weapon and is a comic book item so why can't I create a page with it?

(Venoumy (talk) 10:15, 18 July 2012 (UTC))

Jogoblin/Venoumy;
See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joker venom and Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2008 October 2#Template:Joker (comics)
Both of these have existed prior to you recreations. Both were deleted as either non-notable or unneeded. And nothing has changed.
{{Catwoman}} in all honesty should have been removed when it was recreated, but its existence does not justify other templates.
Joker venom in and of itself is not notable. It is something that should be, and IIRC is, part of Joker (comics), but a plot only article that relies an unreliable sources is in no way appropriate. And that is all you have been doing with your attempts across your two accounts.
One other thing: Material you have scanned from comics or take from other web site cannot be uploaded under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0. The first are owned by others and you cannot give up their rights. The second need to actually have been posted properly under CC3 and you need to point to the page where that license exists. A "Google Images.com" doesn't cut it.

Why I felt that the Batman Screening Shooting should be included in the Batman article

Hi J. Greb,

Apparently you didn't feel that info about the Batman Screening Shooting should be in the Batman article because it might "skew" the article. I inserted it there because as a Wikipedia contributor, I went to Wikipedia to find out exactly what movie "story-line" the killer might have been following, but when I pulled up the Wikipedia Batman article, there was no way to follow the Batman Movie story-line directly from he Batman article. I felt that there will probably be others with the same questions, and that our main Wikipedia Batman article should be able to assist these readers with at least a few answers.

I've put in a discussion point on this on the article's talk page, and I was wondering if you might be able to respond to it. Thanks, Scott P. (talk) 12:22, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Catwoman in other media

Hello, I see that you have deleted the Catwoman in other media article. Recently, I created the Bane in other media article seeing as how the first was becoming too long. Well the Catwoman article is even longer, and it seems fit to create another page for it. I will proceed to do so, but before I do, please tell me why I should not make this contribution to wikipedia? Farhadpersia (talk) 02:15, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

What should be Bold? Punisher or the Punisher?

  • I need to ask you whether or not it should state Punisher or The Punisher[1]. Whatever choice you make, I'll be fine with as this should be up to an Administrator who has edit on the Punisher's page before.108.82.15.159 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 04:19, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
