This message is from user: hughveal. I have just started back using Wikipedia on a daily, regular basis. As such, all of the warnings that you and other attendants of this site had sent were not ignored, just not read. I do understand about not using copyrighted material for an upload. Yet, I was unaware of how upload picture files and give them the proper licensing as your page devoted to how to do so is quite confusing to me. What I want to do is look for information on Wikipedia, and if I find a page that is missing information that I can find elsewhere, I would liketo upload and edit the page to properly fill it with the right data. If you could direct me to a page that shows how to properly upload a picture file, with a GOOD explanation of the licensing matters, I will follow it to the letter. War Machine

Your explanation for this edit was "*NOT* the place to include that information. PERIOD". Favreau confirmed it, and what better place is there than the article for the film it discusses? Please clarify, because the article for Iron Man has something almost identical for Iron Monger.

• The character was called Iron Monger in the comics when he used his armor, but the codename is mentioned in the film only when Stane describes himself and Stark as "ironmongers".
• The character is known as War Machine when wearing his armor in the comics, but the name is only used in the film when Tony asks if he wants to be a "war machine".

I'm sorry, the bottom line is, and has been, that since "War Machine" was not used within the film - and no, the one off quip doesn't count - it isn't used in the plot synopsis or cast list. It can be used sparingly within the "Production" section - especially if a source is quoted using it - but not from a Wikipedia editor assigning it to the character based on "I know this from the comics."

As for Stane... If the character was creditied like Rhodes - without a code name - the the "comic book knoledge derived credit" should be cleared out. I've asked another editor for a double check on that, but my gut reaction is that the text should be simplified to "Obadiah Stane".

Nope. The first four characters on the end-credits on the DVD are: "Tony Stark," "Rhodey," "Obadiah Stane" and "Pepper Potts". For the record, as I'm sure we already have it, Stan Lee (like Jim Cramer) is credited as "Himself." There's also a Zorianna Kit credited as "Herself"; she's an entertainment reporter (who, interestingly, left KTLA in Los Angeles in 2005 amid an ethical scandal). Hey, J. Re: post-credits scenes — Iron Man and X-Men: The Last Stand each include them in the plot section. Now, while I myself would include them there — reasoning that movies often begin their plots before the opening credits, and we include that content in "Plot" — I can certainly live with post-credits scenes in the plot section or somewhere else. I do think, and I'm sure you do, too, that we need to be consistent. What did the consensus discussion say — and apropos of that, I'm thinking that the discussion's conclusions about post-credits scenes should probably go into the Project manual of style. The long and the short of it is that most of the Marvel "after credits" work off of the main plot of the film. Those can be worked into the plot section. With IM2 it is either a bridge or teaser, take your pick, to an unrelated film. Since there is material re the production of the bit, placing it into the production section makes a lot more sense. Consistancy in this case becomes treating extensions of the main plot of the film in one consistant way and treating teasr in one consistant way. the two way just happen to different. - J Greb (talk) 01:07, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm not so sure, especially considering it was used to re-start the article in spite of the more complete on in the incubator. Right now it's up as a redirect and protected to prevent a recurance. After the article leaves the incubator, it may be worth keeping as a likely alternate serch title. If not, it can be unsalted and deleted. - J Greb (talk) 22:42, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

On the former reason, it seems like a losing battle considering somebody could just re-start the article at The Dark Knight Rises (movie), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), etc., but I'll defer to your judgement. –CWenger (talk) 22:47, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

I have commented that the film is a little different than the incubator so far on the discussion page. So moving probably does not have to be done right away. Your bickering about that is ridiculous and unconstructive even in Wikipedia's standards. There is guidelines that can support that a article can be made beyond WP:NFF such as WP:Crystal Ball and WP:GNG. I learned this from film coordinators which (no offense) is not your expertise beyond their's and probably even mine. I don't see why the page still can't be moved when filming actually starts. Sorry about the comment that I scratched. Even if it was true it's not really that necessary to say that. Keep your mouth shut and stay out of trouble I hear a lot and I still can have problems with that like other people. Personally your comment felt like a bite at the face but that didn't mean I should bite back. Even though I ain't a newbie, I pretty much am to your standards, of course. And personally if I was ever an administrator (which I have less and less faith on) I would focus more on encouragement than authority. But that's not a recommendation to be like me. I know I am not a newbie but a professional I am mostly am not, nobody's perfect. I had no idea about the moving incubator thing and still don't understand it. I have asked somebody particularly what that meant. Per WP:Userspace draft you can move the information to the redirect which cutting and pasting is the only option if it already exists but a incubator which I only knew about because of the upcoming movie could be different. You mentioned something on his talkpage about copy-paste moves? Well, the Noob Saibot article is becoming quite an influx of his copypaste moves from the Sub-Zero (Mortal Kombat) article. Film continuity, i.e. "Preceded by" and "Followed by"

Should films that are not in the same continuity, but feature the same character, be included in the "Preceded by" and "Followed by" sections of the infobox? User:Bignole wants to add Spider-Man 3 as preceding the Spider-Man reboot in the infobox, but I say no, using the Batman film series as a precedent. What's the deal? I know I've been informed by you and others to separate the films based on continuity. Your input would be appreciated.-5- (talk) 10:34, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Questions about merging

Hello

I have some questions about merging. I didn't find the answers in the Help or Wikipedia articles.

Lately, Whizzy has been merged with Streaky the Supercat. The merge is OK, Whizzy has only one appearance in comics and is the descendant of Streaky

1) I understand that there is an interest to keep the discussions in Talk:Whizzy but is there any interest to keep the Templates Comicsproj and WikiProject Cats ? What do they evaluate ? the full article about Streaky the Supercat or just the section about Whizzy. Is there someone who really change the class and the importance of a redirection page ?

2) Is it possible to add the following categories in the redirection page Whizzy ? DC Comics superheroes, Animal superheroes, DC Comics characters who can move at superhuman speeds, DC Comics characters with superhuman strength, DC Comics characters, Fictional cats, ... Because when you will look at Fictional cats you won't see Whizzy but the information about it exists. Maybe Whizzy is not a good example with only one appearance but I am pretty sure that you can find some interesting characters well developped in an article which has not the same name about the team or the comic ...

1. In most cases the project tags should be changed to "class=Redirect", that is if the Project tracks redirects.
2. Redirects like this - a seperate character - can be categorized, just like regular pages.
