Wanted to say thanks for providing a cool head over at Talk:Captain Marvel (DC Comics). It's often times too easy for things to escalate between two editors, and at the very least, me and the IP are both responsible for it. Your suggestions are always good, and it's no different here. Arbitration

Since this Arbitration I'm involved in now appears to be open to all crazies with an axe to grind, I'm hoping you can weigh in with some reasoned and mature thoughts at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Asgardian-Tenebrae/Evidence. I'm sure you're right. When you see something from a single-article editor that distorts who you are and ignores what you've done, it can feel unfair. I should try harder to stay above the fray, but this particular person has a unique perspective on things. Captain Marvel (Shazam)

I thought that it was merely concern about the possibility of confusion with the "Marvel" of Marvel Comics. I thought DC just chooses to not use the words "Captain Marvel" on covers? I seem to recall that they have as recently as the just-post-crisis mini-series "Shazam! The New Beginning". (See also Image:Shazam-no-1.jpg for an earlier example.) Could you clarify (and possibly refresh my memory)? - jc37 09:33, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

The closest they got with Shazam! The New Beginning is using "Cap" on the cover of issue #4 [1] (all 4 are accessible from [2]).

And I think the first year of Shazam! is when it was made clear about the trademark concerns. The tag line was changed from "The original Captain Marvel" to "The World's Mightiest Mortal" with issue #14. First I wanted to say, I hope you've had a happy holiday! Second, I've been rewriting the BG article in order to comply with the comic book peer review. I wanted to ask your advice on a certain subject, since you've always given an unbiased, yet frank way of improving it. In regarding Batman the Killing Joke, I wanted to include two different points of view of fan reactions I've come across, but im not sure if the source is apporpriate since its in the for of a blog- i was wondering if i could have your opinion:

Parallax image

Hi. When I noticed that someone replaced the Parallax image I uploaded two years ago with a smaller one, claiming that mine was a "duplicate", I resized my version because mine doesn't have the panel in the lower right corner, emphasizing Parallax, rather than distracting from it, and uploaded that one. Category:Jack Kirby's Fourth World

I almost started adding individual characters to Category:Legion of Super-Heroes until I saw your note on the category talk page. So, instead, I removed any characters who had crept back in. Now I notice that Category:Jack Kirby's Fourth World has several characters in it, which I assume should be rectified. Is there some precedent or guideline that can be pointed to on the talk page? It was never my intention to spam. What is the issue here? I change one badly written sentence in Quicksilver and you shout in caps? Tone it down please. Also hardly a concern for the Talk Page. Do you do tale it to a Talk Page every time you wish to change one sentence?

• Let's calm this down a little. Asgardian, you have marked an edit as minor and left no edit summary, which is why J Greb is yelling. You need to try to remember to at the very least use an edit summary per WP:ES, and try and avoid using the minor edit except for very minor things. I know we disagree on what is minor, but I find it best to use the definition at Help:Minor edit. J Greb, you need to tone it down in an edit summary, per WP:ES. We shouldn't be using edit summaries to admonish other editors. There is a template somewhere for people's talk pages, {{subst:uw-editsummary}}. That might prove more useful in the longer term. Since neither of you posted to the talk page, I am unclear as to whether there is an issue with the content edit. What's up with the edit in question? [6]. Hiding T 09:25, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Noted. I did consider changing one sentence - and by that I mean merely rearrange as opposed to deleting - to be minor. It just wasn't very written. But, I will take your advice on board and leave the "minor" stamp for punctuation matters. I hardly think this is a hanging offence, given that we work to guidelines rather than concrete rules. As it is in fact a very small edit, perhaps JGreb would be good enough to pop it back?

First off, Asgardian my apologies. Regardless of why I put that in the edit summary, Hiding's right, the tone and placement is inappropriate. I shouldn't chided you by name there, and I should have realized that what was done for emphasis would read as shouting.

Second, which part of the edit are you referring to that should go back in? The rephrasing of the Ultimate paragraph, the deletion of a paragraph with citation, or the removal of a header?

Given your comments here, and looking at the edit, I can see putting the Ultimates section back. As for the rest... the paragraph may need pruning, but that is an edit unto itself that should have a clear edit summary or, depending on how that goes over, discussion on the talk on why it should be removed, not a post justifying why it was removed. And given the section structure, a header needs to be there since the discussion moves on from the Silent War mini. Again though, treating it as a separate edit and clearly explaining why it's being taken out goes a lot farther than hiding it.

Looking for some guideance

I've got some images and articles that I've tagged for IFD (Amalgams from trading cards) and clean-up (no PRODs this time but, yes Amalgam articles) which User:Doctor Doomsday is removing without addressing the problems.

Is there a notice for this or do we jut let the tag removal go?

This might be a good opportunity for you to attempt to start an explanatory discussion with him, if you feel up to it - in the hopes of preventing further reversion. I think that maybe you're looking for the {{Uw-delete1}} series. I've never used them myself, but they look right for your purpose. You might also want to point to Wikipedia:Guide to deletion, which states that one shouldn't remove the deletion notice. It specifies afd notice so you may get some wiki lawyering, but that's just daft, the IFD template clearly states it should not be removed. Clean up tags are dealt with in Wikipedia:Cleanup process, I'd point out they shpouldn't be removed per process unless the issues have been addressed. Hiding T 17:49, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
